Platinum Stars draw with Maritzburg United

Posted: 28 March 2012 Time: 21:49

Platinum Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by Maritzburg United in their League match at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Wednesday night.

United took the lead through midfielder Kurt Lentjies midway through the first half, before Enocent Mkhabela equalised for Dikwena. Try as they might, neither side could force a winner from there on.

The visitors had the better of the opening period, pushing forward with purpose and pinning Stars back in their own half.

They took the lead on 27 minutes through Lentjies as he pounced on a loose ball following some hesitant defending from the home side.

Former Dikwena skipper Mbhuyiselo Sambu, on as a first-half substitute for Phelani Mpangase, almost marked his return with a goal as he headed over from Thuso Phala’s corner.

Stars found an equaliser just five minutes after the restart. Mkhabela converted Terrence Mandaza’s pass to score his second goal for the club and continue his fine form in his rookie PSL season.

There followed only half-chances after that for either side – Mandaza blasting over before he was replaced by Morgan Shivambu – but no more goals.

Thanks a an away draw by Maritzburg but lot must be done to that team, as long Mazinyo is still around they won't achieve anything besides fighting to escape relagation. That man has got his favourate players, I rimemba on their game vs Leopard he benched Madondo(a natural mid holder) & fielded his friend Booysen(who played as a defender) up until we complain on the stands after waited more than an hour before the game starts due to heavy rain. Diyo is his top leading goal striker but he was benched to, Mazinyo you failed more that one team is Mzansi so please baba pack your bags & GO. For the chairman to appoint Kananelo & Davids to assist Mazinyo was another flop, come'on Mr Chair where on earth a player that failed to lead& deliver as a skipper on the field can coach up-coming players, for me doesn't make any sense(MY OPINION)
