Free State Stars beat Bidvest Wits 3-1

Posted: 17 March 2012 Time: 17:54

Free State Stars have continued their remarkable season, beating Bidvest Wits 3-1 at the Bidvest Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Students started the game well, but it was the visitors who netted the opener on 24 minutes through Katlego Mshego, who had time on the edge of the area to pick his spot and beat goalkeeper Emille Baron.

However, Stars were still celebrating when Wits did some cheering of their own when they were awarded a penalty which Sifiso Vilakazi buried past Kennedy Mweene.

Mashego was in fine form and he also had a goal in Stars’ second goal, setting up Noah Chivuta to score in the 62nd minute.

By this stage it was only Baron standing between Stars and a massive hiding for Wits, though he could not stop Edward Manqele from continuing his amazing season when he netted on 84 minutes.

The win sees Stars move up to sixth with 32 points from 20 games, while Wits drop to ninth.

Congratulations to FSS, they are having a time of their lives. This is the best thus far. They are a tough nut to crack, they will be in the top five end of this season. Bravo to Bra Steve and his assistant.
