Santos beat Orlando Pirates 3-0

Posted: 14 March 2012 Time: 21:33

Santos gave Orlando Pirates a 3-0 footballing lesson on Wednesday night.

Erwin Isaacs opened the scoring, before Eleazar Rodgers got a brace.

Santos came out of the blocks like lightning, attacking from the first minute.

Two minutes in, a long ball from the back found Erwin Isaacs, who beat the offside trap and whipped round Moeneeb Josephs and tapped into an empty net.

Pirates were put on the back foot and resorted to tentative long-range efforts, while Santos were bouyed by their lead and dominated the midfield.

Isaac Chansa sent a rocket into the crowd, which didn't really trouble Pa Dembo Touray.

The Santos goalkeeper had a solid game and made comfortable stops from Benni McCarthy and Dikgang Mabalane towards the end of the half.

The match reached half-time at 1-0, but Bucs came out of the dressing-rooms with more confidence and intent.

Nonetheless, Santos managed to double their lead on the half-hour mark, when a great free-kick from Matthew Pattison found the head of Eleazar Rodgers.

The lanky striker made no mistake, and the Capetonians were up 2-0.

Pirates looked out of chances, and in the 73rd minute Santos made sure of the win.

Pattison was at it again, and sent the ball through to Rodgers, who hit home past Josephs to secure the People's Team all three points.

Ricardo Skippers and then Vuyisile Wana were unable to make it four for Santos, who had to play out seven minutes of extra time, but held on for the win.

We all knw, it is always not easy in Cape Town. There was no game plan from Ndzendze as he had a day of training wid the galaxy. We had no confidence and fighting spirit. We will bounce back. Up the Bucs!

Im happy that we lost, how can you defend a league title when u fire a coach at a crucial stage of the season?
Leal was supposed to finnish what he started, atleast he was getting positive results out of that so called bad football.

I so wish Zebras can put a final nail in this sinking coffin and see what would be the excuse from those who were campaigning for the sacking of Leal...........
Once a Pirate always Pirate!
