Bidvest Wits draw 1-1 with Kaizer Chiefs

Posted: 25 February 2012 Time: 20:21

A second-minute opener by Bernard Parker and an equaliser by Sifiso Vilakazi four minutes later were all the goals at Mbombela Stadium between Bidvest Wits and Kaizer Chiefs.

There was a 10 minute delay to the kick-off following the late arrival of fans, but they were greeted by immediate action as Parker put Amakhosi in front.

At the other end, Sibusiso Vilakazi did well to gather the ball from a Chiefs player, before crossing to Sifiso Vilkazi who found the back of the net.

Chiefs applied all the early pressure as they continued to push the Clever Boys' back, and Parker had a header on goal, but it was no trouble for Emille Baron.

In the 25th minute George Lebese took a shot at goal with his weaker right foot, but Baron was again up to the task; while two minutes later Daylon Appolis was brought on to replace Masibusane Zongo owing to injury.

On the half hour mark Chiefs were guilty of some sloppy defending, and and open Vilakazi has a chance, but shot poorly.

Minutes before the hour mark, Patrick Phungwayo worked some magic on the flank to get a cross into the box, but the ball flew over the heads of his teammates.

Keegan Ritchie then created the first effort for Chiefs in the second half as he unleashed a long range shot that went high.

Wits won a number of corners in the second half, but were not able to turn them into anything.

Despite four minutes of added time, the match ended a stalemate.

Chivs of today is even worse than their worst generation ye-"Zama-Zama", which boasted the likes of Wasiu Ipaye, Rodney Dube and ofcourse Nkanga Nzenza. It's a total shambles and does'nt look like improving anytime soon.

Phew...it seems like we wo'nt be dropping points alone after all, our chasers are stumbling one by one. Heebeee! he he he.

Eish makhosi i think i must confess. Our team is kak. We can,t win the lig. I know futball in and out but i don,t think our current tim is capable of winning us things. If we win sumting this czn it will be a massive achievemnt.

i,m just proud that we have a tim that brings a true futball atmosphere to a soccer match. 41 000 fans against atim lyk Wits is sumthmg 2 be proud of . Sundowns can only draw that crowd for their home attendance in a whole year. This only shows how our tim disappoints its fans.

Truth be told with the current chiefs players as a coach ure left with no choice but to field the less experience players you have at your disposal the likes of Lebese, Khune etc, yende and nale came in bt could not change a thing. its so sad because many supporters hv started calling for VV head while he doesnt have enough good players to produce results. i ask all hollard policy holders to upgrade their policies so the coach will be given a cheque book to bring quality next season. Lets await the champs to climb the ladder tomorrow. football was mastered at universty of Orlando

I said it & I'll say it again, the moment of truth is upon us pretenders have their home in the lig table and they r gradually going home because in second round its impossible to pretend, second round is the time of contenders. In 1st round even tims like FSS can pretend but when moment of truth cum they start fighting for top 8.I only c 2 contenders this season & they are gradually taking their rightful position in the lig its always Bucs vs Ajax in this lig. I'm watching these contenders with delight fighting it off may best tim win. Sekunjalo boys are separated from men.

Wits will NEVER beat Amakhosi 3-0 like they did to our neighbours oh so sadly nevertheless was a good game 4 amakhosi just dnt like the changes VV did especially where Nale is concerned. Then again the maradona goal was a factor as well but overall chiefs stood their ground somewhat well I mean wits were also superb today it was a leka game .... P.oesrats fans must worry abt whts gonna happen at Orlando Stadium 2m let us Amakhosi fans worry abt our teams performance ... Jou m.oer man ... And @ Sweyts Sundowns aint winning the league broer the soweto giants with ajax just like last season ... K4L
