Mamelodi Sundowns draw 0-0 with Jomo Cosmos

Posted: 19 February 2012 Time: 17:42

Jomo Cosmos will be pleased with a point away at Mamelodi Sundowns, after a 0-0 draw in their Premiership encounter at Loftus Versfeld on Sunday.

Despite the disappointing result, Downs still enjoy a three-point lead at the top of the table with 35 points from 17 games.

SuperSport United and Kaizer Chiefs are close behind the Brazilians on 32 points each.

Cosmos still sit in 15th place with 11 points.

With the number of chances they created, Sundowns should really have taken all three points. Katlego Mphela was one of the main culprits, and on 14 minutes sent a volley narrowly wide after a cross from Siyanda Xulu.

Jabulani Shongwe shot wide after good interplay with Teko Modise, before Mphela provided a ball for Lebogang Mokoena, whose shot was beaten away by Avril Phali.

Phali was called into action minutes later, when he tipped Themba Zwane's = curling shot wide.

Anthony Laffor added some energy to the Brazilians when he came on for the lacklustre Elias Pelembe after an hour, and sent in a great cross to an unmarked Mphela in the box, but 'Killer' headed wide.

Nyasha Mushekwi headed wide after a cross from Siyabonga Ngubane cross, and had another shot on moments later but was denied by an on-form Phali.

Matthew Rusike, who made some enterprising runs on the wing in the first half, had Cosmos' best chance half an hour into the match, but his attempt was easily saved by Wayne Sandilands.

Siyabonga Nontshinga could have given Ezenkosi a surprise win in the final seconds, but his shot flew just over the bar.

Arggh! Before we delve onto the accidental trebble club' affairs, Sir. Neeskens must've learnt by now that we need Mushekwi to start.....whether Bafana suffers or not it's secondary at this moment, Bafana are already battling partly due to Pirates' abnormal dominance mos. mh.

What a result! I DON'T LIKE DRAWS AT ALL.

Good performance by the boys though, they do play as a good unit and work for each. Even though this game was drawn, Mamelodi Sundowns F.C. shall remain top till the end.

There are still many positives to be drawn from this game, I hope we improve going forward. Our opponents are planning very well against us, we need to call up on Simba Sithole and Richard Henyekane to strech that strike force ammunition since the USUAL SUSPECTS are open books to our opponents.

I would like to encourage all the YELLOW CITIZENS across the borders of Mzansi and beyond to remain POSITIVE, YELLOW & HOPEFUL cause the current team is a very very good component and shall deliever the GLORIOUS CROWN to CHLOORKOP in style.

Iyoooooooooo....shame. As usual Sunkak played in front of a near empty stadium. Huffing and puffing the whole afternoon dishing out uninspiring football. They were lucky to win against Amazulu midweek yet their stupid fans predicted an easy win againt Cosmos.

Sies dimpya !!!!

Hey lona Ma SunKak, you always like boasting about Motsepe's money and how he can afford any player he wants but why can't you ask him to buy you some fans ? Phela Sundowns home matches are an eyesore. How do we explain to other ppl that this team is supposed to be one of the Big 3 when they neva attract more than 5000 fans to their home matches except when they play The Mighty Chiefs and Chibuku FC ?

I expected Chibuku FC fans to flood the site laughing at Sunkuku's draw against Cosmos like they did when Chiefs drew midweek. Come out you Chibuku FC fans Sundowns drew with lowly Cosmos !

Could it be that you respect Chiefs so much that you don't expect them to draw against Cosmos ???? Let,s hear it from you.

Khosis,

To tell you the truth Sweeto and Mmadibono from the Sunclowns were the ones vocal in solidarity to warning the hopeless Piekuku that their far fetched dream it's only just that "a dream".

As for today's game i expected the 4 - 0 drubbing Brainlesszito said they gonna impose on Jomo. Loftus was so empty i even felt ashamed that one of my Sundunusa friends wanted me to accompany him to the game and i refused atleast i would have added to the numbers. Taxi tsa Mams were still using Pretorius street than Park which is mostly used when the Biggest team in S.A is in town.

So to Sweeto, Mmadibono and Brainlesszito don't count your chickens before they hatch. And try to console your brothers from Orlando. Shem! They thought it's still 2011 where they'll ride on the success of the Pink Shirt.
