Mamelodi Sundowns beat SuperSport United in a League clash

Posted: 16 December 2011 Time: 19:50

SuperSport United were handed their second defeat in a row as Tshwane rivals Mamelodi Sundowns beat them 3-1 in an Absa Premiership clash from the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium.

To rub salt into their wounds, it was former player Teko Modise who netted twice for Sundowns.

Atusaye Nyondo’s 27th minute strike was cancelled out by a Modise opportunist goal a minute later, before Nyasha Mushekwi doubled the lead and Modise sealed the win for Sundowns.

SuperSport were missing Anthony Laffor due to suspension and coach Gavin Hunt opted to hand a rare start to Mduduzi Nyanda.

The surprise exclusion was that of Mogogi Gabonamong, who Hunt replaced with Thabo September in the central defensive midfield role.

A rare attack from SuperSport in the 27th minute saw Nyondo give them the lead after an assisting by Tebogo Langerman.

Modise equalized with a toe poke after a terrible mistake by Moffat Mdluli allowed him to steal the ball and score just seconds after Nyondo’s goal.

Then Punch Masenemela set up Mushekwi to hand Sundowns the lead in the 48th minute.

Captain fantastic Modise put the final nail into the SuperSport coffin when he netted after a brilliant turn, showing signs of the old Modise.

The Brazilians are now on top of the Absa Premiership log on goal difference, and will look to cement this position when they clash with Free State Stars in their final match of the year on Wednesday 21 December.

Neeskens is simply the best.sundowns r now mastering the 4-3-3 system like they have bin playing it for many seasons. What I like about the coach is that he is very calm and not arrogant at all

Congratulations are in order for Tsholofelo Teko Modise after enduring close to 2 years struggling with form. This proves beyond reasonable doubt that hard work and perseverance does pay off.

Sundowns My Sundowns, Kings Of Tshwane, rulers of Msanzi football, the architects of "PIANO & SHOESHINE", the engineers of beautiful spectacular football filled with FLAIR, COLOUR & RHYTHMIC SAMBA, Bafana Ba Style. Ka bo Yellow-ow-ow-ow!!!

We are back at our rightful dynastic position where we belong. Wow boys, you made proud us indeed!

I REPEAT: My beloved DOWNS, you are the one and only team in RSA who plays with fluidity, verve and distinctive style. While the other 15 teams resort to route-one of "SKOP EN DONOR" result-orientated football, you continue to bless us with elegance, entertainment and most importantly, avalanche of goals.

Watching you is like watching Barcelona's "tiki-taka" in the making, watching you is like attending a lecture at the University of Oxford about the study of beauty, watching you is like been in thearte watching a well-rehe@rsed Macbeth classic.

Teko Modise, The General, The Great Navigator, Super Google-Earth, WOW, WOW, WOW! Charisma, remarkable, exceptational, you are just something else. Keep it up my Maestro!

XULU BOY, what a game boy, keep it up!

To the technical team and the boys, this is the way to go, well done!

Now im convinced that the ghost is gonna defend our title. this is playing out like last season ,the verysame team are holding the umbrella for us once more. Good job sunclawanas, very well played spaza's. Now all is set for us to get within 4points of the two leaders. All the more reason we go out seisa and not just give celtics their first loss, but giving them a high whalloping. I know we gonna do it sunday,im convinced of it and 6goals to 0 in our favour would be real feat. Pirates 6 : the dancing team 0. BLACK RED AND WHITE ALWAYS!!
