A superb second half and goals from Letladi Madubanya, Lethola Mofokeng and Phenyo Mongala saw Bloemfontein Celtic come from a goal behind to beat Jomo Cosmos 3-1 in a League match on Wednesday night.
The first 45 minutes kicked-off with both sides struggling to hold onto the ball for sustained periods of play. Instead, the opening ten minutes was characterised by some woeful passing and bad long range shooting.
Nonetheless, as the game progressed Cosmos began to find their feet and they were the first to really test the opposing goal in the 18th minute when Lebo Pila let fly with a powerful 25-yard shot. Patrick Tignyemb, however, was in fine form producing a great acrobatic save to palm the effort away from danger.
Still, there was nothing Tignyemb could do nine minutes later when Siyabonga Nhlapo opened the scoring after his 18-yard shot deflected off Erick Mathoho, wrong footing the keeper, and finding its way into the back of the net, 1-0.
After going behind Celtic finally started to play some football of their own, but their closest chance on goal in the first half was a shot from Clifford Mulenga just inside the 18-yard box in the 40th minute. His effort, though, skimmed the wrong side of the upright.
The home team definitely started the second half the better of the two teams and created pressure on the Cosmos defence from the word go.
And they should really have scored immediately after the restart when Mulenga forced Avril Phali into a save from the edge of the box, but the keeper did not palm the ball away from danger as the ball fell to Letladi Madubanya who should have scored. His close range shot, however, struck the side netting.
Madubanya, though, made no such mistake in the 67th minute when he levelled the scores after latching onto a good through ball from Lethola Mofokeng and burying the ball past Pahli from only a couple of yards out, 1-1.
A minute later and Celtic had completely changed their fortunes when Mofokeng put the Phunya Sele Sele in front with a clincal finish from just inside the 18-yard box, 2-1.
The home side then confirmed the result in the 79th minute when Phenyo Mongala scored a scorcher of a long range effort, finding the top right hand corner with his pile-driver, 3-1.
That is the way the game ended and although Cosmos started brightly they still gave away silly goals and are still winless in the PSL.
