Mamelodi Sundowns beat Black Leopards 5-1

Posted: 30 October 2011 Time: 17:24

Mamelodi Sundowns will be donating R50,000 to breast cancer research, after beating Black Leopards 5-1 on Sunday.

Ahead of the match Brian Baloyi told KickOff.com that the club would donate R10,000 per goal they scored, in honour of October being breast cancer awareness month.

Nyasha Mushekwi and Katlego Mphela got a brace each, and Richard Henyekane added a fifth, to make up Downs' impressive scoreline.

Khetowakhe Masuku got the only goal for Leopards.

Lidoda Duvha, who conceded four goals in the final half hour of the match, will look back on some missed opportunities early in the second half.

The result sees Sundowns move back to within three points of leaders SuperSport United, while Leopards remain second from bottom, two points ahead of Jomo Cosmos.

The first half was a subdued affair until Downs broke the deadlock three minutes into added time, with Mushekwi chipping the ball over the advancing Posnett Omony after sprinting onto a great through ball.

Leopards had chances to equalise in the early stages of the second half – Mongezi Bobe and Rodney Ramagalela both spurned good chances that originated out on the flanks.

Mushekwi doubled Sundowns' advantage on 63 minutes, beating Simphiwe Vezi to Teko Modise's corner kick and scoring with a good header.

The Zimbabwean was replaced by Mphela soon afterwards, and 'Killer' immediately made it 3-0, cracking home a right footed shot.

Leopards scored a consolation goal on 85 minutes, with Masuku's brilliant direct free kick, but further strikes from Richard Henyekane and Mphela in the 87th and 91st minutes meant his effort was all but forgotten.

In PE there was a massive crowd of 20000 people to witness a win 4 Pirates. While in Pretoria there were 3500 people to witness a Sundowns win...

My point is small teams are motivated when playing in big crowds... But playing sundowns is no different than playing swallows, celtics, ajax or FSS at home.. Today we saw another situation of small team beating another small team. Football 101 was mastered at the University of Orlando.

No name.... Listen here there is no such thing as big in terms of age.... Age goes with old not big..... But we all saw that the stadium was 90 percent empty which means small team....

. I full agree with u. We won by a big score but sum players commitment is questionable. Kekane is too relaxed. At present we don't have a player who is prepare to die for de team. De team is paying them well but we still waiting for smthing in return.

De day pirates won de ligi, orlando stadium was more than half empty, the average pirates attendance for last czen was less than 3000. For me chivs and bum(c)s are lyk a cheap brand. Easy to find. People with no taste support dis team, people who lack knowlegde of de game support dis team. 97% of our supporters follows us by choice. We got style which no ada team has. We play beautiful soccer and dat why people luv dis team. It is not bcos of our great grandmamas we support dis team. Or our lazy uncles and papas told us to support dis team. A downs fan is a supporter who fell in luv with de team b4 he decide to support it.

Just glad to see Zwane on the pitch, Shongwe has also made the bench and is one step closer, not forgetting Letlabika who plays like a seasoned Pro....the future looks good Dawana's.

Mushekwi is the best man for Neeskins' 4-3-3, his enthusiasm and hunger suits us perfectly as compared to Mphela who bursts in patches, he also looked suited by the super-sub role he should keep it.

Kudo's to Heinneken for a typical goal, with more focus Khenyeza will be driving our team bus maduzane. mh.

Downs na nou!
