Kaizer Chiefs beat Black Leopards 2-0

Posted: 16 October 2011 Time: 17:17

A man-of-the-match performance from Lucky Baloyi handed Kaizer Motaung the perfect birthday present, as his beloved Kaizer Chiefs beat Black Leopards 2-0 on Sunday.

Baloyi was a class above the rest at Peter Mokaba Stadium and scored what proved to be the winning goal, and created the second one for Lehlohonolo Majoro, which sealed victory for Amakhosi.

Chiefs never looked like losing but were growing visibly agitated before they broke the deadlock with 30 minutes to go.

Chiefs were completely dominant throughout the game, controlling the possession and dictating the flow of play, but were unable to get the ball past a stubborn Posnett Omony, who made a number of excellent saves in the first half.

On 14 minutes Baloyi's volley had Omony at full stretch to his right to make the save.

In the 23rd minute Siphiwe Tshabalala tested Omony, but again the Leopards keeper was up for the challenge with another acrobatic save to his left, palming away a low 18-yard drive.

Five minutes later Sthembiso Ngcobo found himself through on goal with only the keeper to beat, but Omony was quickly off his line to smother the attacker. The ball, though, rebounded to Tshabalala who fired over the crossbar with the keeper out of position and an empty net at his mercy.

Tshabalala was again in the thick of action two minutes later with a thunderbolt from 25 yards out that finally beat the keeper, but struck the right-hand post and bounced away from danger.

Leopards only chance of the half came in the 39th minute after some good pressing from Rodney Ramagalela saw him steal the ball off debutant Brent Lawler and drive forward before unleashing a powerful 25-yard shot that went inches wide of the target.

The second 45 saw Chiefs continue in the same fashion, on top and controlling matters in the midfield.

Still they were not making the most of it as they opted largely to shoot from long range with little effect.

Eventually, in the 60th minute, Amakhosi were able to make the pressure pay off. George Lebese played Baloyi into some space on the counter-attach, and just inside the left side of the box he took a left-footed shot, finally beating Omony to make it 1-0.

19 minutes later Chiefs sealed victory with their second goal. Baloyi turned provider when he supplied a well driven pass across the face of the Leopards goal; all Majoro had to do was toe-poke the ball into a gaping net from a couple of yards out.

The win sees the Phefeni Glamour boys up to second on the log while the loss for Leopards keeps them second from bottom.

Well done to VV not jst 4 the win but 4 giving ada players a chance. Rotation of players is a tried and tested strategy that has worked very well for teams like Barca and Man U. More than half the playas who started today seldom play and luk wat they did. This is also gud cos opposition teams don't know wat to expect. If VV continues with this strategy us doing well in the lig while ada so-called big teams continue droppin points. Shapa Khosi shapaaa.
