Golden Arrows and Mamelodi Sundowns draw in League clash

Posted: 15 October 2011 Time: 19:59

Golden Arrows and Mamelodi Sundowns drew 1-1 in a League match on Saturday evening.

The Sundowns goal was scored by Elias Pelembe while Musa Bilankulu got the equalizer. Arrows had Dillon Sheppard sent off in the 94th minute.

Most of the play in the first half was concentrated in the midfield with Dillon Sheppard causing problems for defenders on the left side, while Mabhuti Khenyeza did the same for Sundowns at the other end.

The first real chance of the match fell for the home team in the 27th minute when Siyabonga Nkosi delivered a dangerous corner into the box which was flicked on by Thanduyise Khuboni; Robyn Johannes did well to rescue the ball at the far post but somehow Musa Bilankulu failed to get a touch on the ball with the goalkeeper out of the equation.

Sundowns finished the half as the stronger side with Pelembe proving to be a thorn on the right side of the field and in the 41st minute he delivered a dangerous cross behind the Arrows defence for Katlego Mphela but the star striker failed to make a proper connection with the ball.

The first goal of the match arrived in the 54th minute and it was worth the wait as Elias Pelembe showed his class to control the ball on the edge of the box before placing it the top corner beyond a diving Helton Da Rocha.

The celebrations didn’t last for long as the score were back level three minutes later when Musa Bilankulu rose above defenders to head home from a Siyabonga Nkosi corner.

Both sides could’ve stolen the lead in the closing stages with substitute Thamsanqa Gabuza getting a few chances for the home side, while another substitute, Teko Modise, missed a good chance to take maximum points for the visitors in the 84th minute.

Dillon Sheppard was sent off in the 95th minute for a second bookable offence just two minutes after receiving his first yellow card.

Sandilands continues to cost us games, the less said about Mwanjanle's leadership 'methods', the better.

Teko 'Google Eish' should've buried that one, I hope his lawyers speed up the paper work. mh.

Bad refreeing wins at the end of the day. Ball advantage is the basics in refreeing, i careless about added on time. Where SUFFER get this monkeys.

The coach should have introduced Mushekwi much earlier. To the defence, why do you concede set pieces you cannot defend.

I said sundowns doesn't have a goalkeeper in Sandilands. If you look at all the games they played, he is the number one suspect. The goal conceded against Ajax from the free kick, comes tops thus far

Sandilands really needs to be rested he can't even command his 18yard area and the refereeing in our league leaves much to be desired but in real honesty we should have played to win from the first minute. We need 2strikers upfront the 4-3-3 formation is limiting our players ability some of them aren't mobile as we would love them to be.

As Sundowns fans, we must learn to appreciate our team's effort. We don't owe it to anyone, either Makuse Cup winner or two decades four cups winners. Sundowns is young team and successful. If we do head to head league titles counting, since the league turned in the late 70's, we have league titles together with the Zebras besides the fact that we joined the league in 1985
. We cannot win everything overnight but it takes time for a team to gel. We didn't play that bad but in PSL there are teams that play to win the league and those that play to draw to in the league. All is not lost.

It was a gud game, we still making mistake dat cost us, but we have improve in terms of playing for 45 min. Now I can say we are the fastest improving team. Arrows players they give 200% when playing against us. Name 1 player in de psl(exl downs) who don't want to go overseas.
Teko modise has confirm it Downs is Europe.
@mtho4downz my brother. CHIVs fans are like a baboon who's owner died in a broomstick crash(empini yabathakathi) dey are so clueless even bobsteak told them to get lost. So now and again they will sic attention wherever dey can get.
Some of them think dr "strepsil" khumalo is still playing and paul dolezer is the coach. Shame in not even funny....

'Downs should deregister or loan out one of their foreigners, ( advisably Sithole )in order to open up space for a strong foreign Keeper. As long as the current keeper is still the number one keeper, Downs will never win anything.

He is a good shortstopper, but when it comes to crosses, cornerkicks and decision making etc, he is he worst keeper I know of in the PSL.He is by far the weakest link in the Downs team.
