Maritzburg United and Black Leopards draw

Posted: 24 September 2011 Time: 16:55

They might be upset not to have got the full three points, but Maritzburg United are still unbeaten after six Absa Premiership matches following a 0-0 draw with Black Leopards.

It was a game of fluffed opportunities and frustration for the players, coaches and the fans inside the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Maritzburg have now won two matches and drawn four while Leopards have just one win and three draws.

Leopards had the first scoring chance when Ramagalela stripped past the defence, but shot over the bar.

Then Diyo Sibisi had the ball in the back of the net for Maritzburg United when he headed in Peter Petersen’s cross, but Sibisi was adjudged to have pushed a defender and the goal was correctly disallowed.

Late in the opening half, Lentjies’ attempt on goal was turned around the post by Posnett Omony before Kingston Nkhatha headed over the bar from a corner.

The second half got a little tense as both sets of players began to show their frustration with Rheece Evans booked for a studs-up challenge.

A few of the tackles from both sides became reckless and Ramagalela, in particular, strayed offside far too often, which added to the frustration all round.

In the 66th minute, Mabunda put Ramagalela one-on-one with Shuaib Walters, but he missed the target by a long way.

Then Leopards substitute Diala Manaka came close after 79 minutes when his effort flew just wide of the upright.
