Moroka Swallows beat AmaZulu in a League match

Posted: 17 September 2011 Time: 22:18

Moroka Swallows beat AmaZulu 1-0 in a League match thanks to an 89th minute winner from Ashraf Hendricks on Saturday night.

Both sides started slowly with most of the action restricted to the midfield but started to create meaningful chances as the half progressed.

Tangeni Shipahu had a half-chance to put Usuthu ahead in 17th minute but Hendricks reacted well to block the strikers headed attempt.

Ten minutes later Greg Etafia was alert enough to save a dangerous in swinging corner from Moses Chavula that needed the slightest of touches.

Moroka Swallows had a chance at the other end when Siyabonga Nomvete found his captain Lefa Tsutsulupa in the 51st but his shot failed to hit the target.

Bennett Chenene tried to lob the ball over Tapuwa Kapini a minute later but the experienced goalkeeper was alert enough to keep his shot away.

The best chance of the half fell for Stanton Lewis in the 38th minute after receiving a well-weighted pass from Dumisani Zwane but he sent his shot wide.

Usuthu came out as the better side in the second half with more chances for the likes of Shipahu and Zwane but inaccurate finishing kept the score unchanged.

They were eventually punished for their wastefulness in the 89th minute when Ashraf Hendricks nodded the ball into the back of the net after receiving a cross from Lefa Tsutsulupa.

Swallows have now won their second match in a row, but problems continue for Usuthu as they search for that elusive win.

We can say this and that about Mngqithi.Amazulu should have won but they wasted so many opportunities.Amazulu players need to go to the mirror and asked themselfs if they are doing what they were employed for I mean they must pull up their socks.

My brother Sboniso you can say what ever you say about Mngqithi and his boys, to me that team is going nowhere with Mngqithi except 1st division. Manqoba is arrogant and is trying to prove something we don't know about getting rid of senior players for ametures. The way he shouts to senior players is questionable. Amazulu are hot candidates for religation if Manqoba doesn't change his mind set.

Maswaswai, our team is representing us well in the PSL now so let's give them the support they need at the stadium. Let's go out in numbers to Dobsonville on Saturday to welcome another 3 points that Jomo will be bringing us. Don't follow me, follow the Birds.
