Platinum Stars started the season with a bang with a well-earned 2-0 win over Ajax Cape Town.
Lantshene Phalane, on debut, opened the scoring in the 20th minute, before Elias Ngwepe converted a penalty on 33 minutes.
Phalane, who recently signed for Stars from Second Division side Baroka FC, finished off from a pass from Thulo Phala, who had a busy game.
Ngwepe doubled the margin from the penalty spot in the 32nd minute after Nazeer Allie handled the ball in the box.
Dikwena could have added more goals after the interval.
Phala had a shot from close range, but it was weak and Ajax goalkeeper Sean Roberts collected it easily.
On the hour mark, Phalane nearly completed a brace, but his free-kick from the edge of the box went just over the goalposts.
And late in the match, substitute Terrence Mandaza had a shot saved.
Ajax did not look as sharp as they did in the MTN8 quarter-final, when they beat SuperSport United 5-2.
The Cape side's Zimbabwean forward, Tafadzwa Rusike, hit the side netting in the opening minutes, after being well supplied by 'Terror' Fanteni, who showed good touches in patches.
With Ajax two goals down, wingback Thulani Hlatshwayo managed to deliver an inch-perfect cross from the right, but the busy Rusike again miscued.
Shortly before the break, Allie tried to make up for earlier mishaps by playing through a perfect long pass from deep that found Khama Billiat, who controlled well but was let down by his second touch.
In the dying seconds of the match, Billiat summed up his team's day as he watched his effort rebound off the woodwork, after a good build-up from deep.
Stars's next fixture is against defending League champions Orlando Pirates in Soweto on Tuesday.
Ajax will attempt to gather their first points of the season when they take on Maritzburg United in Cape Town on Wednesday.
