Free State Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by SuperSport United on Saturday afternoon.
New signing Edward Manqele opened the scoring for Free State Stars on nine minutes, before Anthony Laffor got one back through a penalty on 58 minutes.
SuperSport had the first chance in an evenly contested first half, when Magogi Gabonamong's thunderous effort was well saved by Stars goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene in the sixth minute.
Just two minutes later the home team took the lead through Manqele, with a stinger of a shot from outside the box.
In the 20th minute, Saname Wome's long-range effort was parried for a corner by SuperSport keeper Ronwen Williams.
In the dying minutes of the first half Wome came close again, when his free-kick hit the post.
Katlego Mashego latched on to the rebound, and hit the back of the net, but he was ruled offside by the assistant referee and the goal was disallowed.
The second half started slowly, but in the 57th minute SuperSport levelled terms.
Laffor sent Mweene the wrong way with a penalty, after Erasmus was fouled by Phumlani Mhamha in the box.
Wome had another powerful attempt from outside the box towards the end of the match but, with Williams well beaten, the goal was disallowed, and the score remained 1-1.
