Ajax Cape Town went back to winning ways with a convincing 3-0 win over Platinum Stars in a Premiership match at the Moruleng Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Terror Fanteni got a brace, before Khama Billiat got the third.
It was a awe-inspiring display from the Urban Warriors in the first 45 minutes, and they completely dominated play. Stars, on the other hand, really struggled to find their footing.
In the seventh minute Brent Carelse let fly with a powerful shot from the edge of the 18-yard area, but his effort sailed just past the upright.
The real dangerman, however, was Terror Fanteni, who was constant threat in attack. His first real chance on goal came in the 18th minute, but his 12-yard shot skimmed the wrong side of the upright.
In the 27th minutes, the referee adjudged Tapiwa Kapini to have pulled down Carelse inside the box, and Fanteni made no mistake from the spot with a clinical finish to make it 1-0.
Four minutes later Fanteni found himself in some space on the 18-yard box and let loose with a pile-driver that found the bottom left corner of the net, 2-0.
The Urban Warriors continued to dominate play and it was only a matter of time before they found their third goal.
Khama Billiat was the man who sealed the points after he finished off a great passing movement with a pin-point finish from 12-yards out that found the back of the net, 3-0.
In the second half Ajax created numerous chances, but did not capitalise on them.
Dikwena’s day was summed up by poor finishing. In the 54th and 72nd minute when both Henrico Botes and Sibusiso wasted golden opportunities from 12 yards out, both of them shooting wide when they should have scored.
In the end 3-0 scoreline was easy on Stars, as Ajax could – and should – have been 5-0 up at the end of the match.
