Supersport United and Platinum Stars played to a dull 1-1 draw in an Absa Premier League game at the Super Stadium on Wednesday night.

Ricardo Katza scored for the hosts, with Simba Marumo scoring for the visitors in a poor game that did not produce many goalscoring opportunities.

Supersport went ahead in the 20th minute when they were awarded a penalty after Koketso Mmotong handled the ball inside the area and Katza slotted from the spot, although the Matsatsantsa skipper was ordered to retake his spot-kick after several players had encroached the area, but the defender made no mistake with his second attempt.

Stars drew level on the stroke of half-time when they were awarded a penalty after midfielder Stanley Kgatla was fouled inside the area and Marumo stepped up to coolly slot home from the spot.

Both sides had chances to win the game towards the end of the game, with Elias Pelembe watching his shot brilliantly saved by Wayne Sandilands, while Marumo saw his late header come back off the crossbar.
