Kaizer Chiefs beat Free State Stars 3-0 in an exciting Absa Premier League encounter at Olympia Park on Wednesday night.

The goals were scored by Mabhuti Khenyeza, Onismor Bhasera and Shaun Bartlett.

Stars were clearly the better side in the first half having many more scoring opportunities. After Chiefs scored early in the second half they were the team in charge and dominated the rest of the match.

In the 26th minute Fanyana Dhladhla had a good opportunity for Stars but hammered his shot straight at keeper Itumeleng Khune.

James Matola hammered a shot that went narrowly past the upright in the 28th minute.

Diyo Sibisi had a great scoring opportunity in the 33rd minute but again hit his shot straight at Khune.

Kaizer Motaung Jnr had his close-range shot blocked by Kampamba Chintu in the 39th minute.

Sibisi headed the ball at goal only to be denied by the crossbar from a cross by Duncan Lechesa on the stroke of halftime.

Chiefs took the lead almost immediately after the break when Khune hoofed the ball up field for Mabhuti Khenyeza to run onto and score with a shot from close-range.

In the 75th minute Motaung Jnr crossed the ball from the right, over the keeper and defence, for Onismor Bhasera to score with a shot from close-range.

Khenyeza had a shot from outside the box brilliantly saved by keeper Kennedy Mweene in the 81st minute.

Shaun Bartlett scored with a header in the 91st minute to round off a great Chiefs second half performance.

The win lifts Chiefs up the table on 9 points while Stars are above them on 11 points.
