Bryce Moon scored a hat-trick as Lamontville Golden Arrows came from two goals down to finish 3-2 winners in their KwaZulu-Natal Derby against AmaZulu at the Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday.
The Bafana Bafana international was superb in the second period as he gave his side the three points, after Lehlohonolo Majoro had netted twice for Usuthu to take his tally for the season to 13, one behind the leader Knowledge Musona from Kaizer Chiefs.
It means AmaZulu could still mathematically finish in the relegation play-off place, but would have to lose heavily to Kaizer Chiefs on the final day of the season and see Vasco da Gama scored an avalanche of goals against Santos.
Majoro’s two goals came in the first 25 minutes after assists from Sibusiso Hadebe and Goodman Dlamini and at that stage Usuthu seemed to be cruising.
But the game changed in the second period when Moon netted three times in 22 minutes.
His first was scored as he knocked home the rebound after Thamsanqa Gabuza’s shot had been parried. And 13 minutes later the scores were level as the winger scored again, getting a rare goal with his head.
The comeback was complete with 16 minutes remaining as Moon grabbed his hat-trick. A long ball from returning goalkeeper Helton da Rocha found its way to the Bafana Bafana star and he kept his cool to finish.
