Arrows fight back for the points

SuperSport's United's dismal Absa Premiership season continued on Wednesday night as they twice surrendered the lead to go down 4-2 to fellow strugglers Lamontville Golden Arrows at the Chatsworth Stadium.
The defending League champions were quick out the blocks thanks to goals from Morgan Gould and Tebogo Langerman, but were ultimately pegged back by a brace from Collins Mbesuma, and further goals from Bryce Moon and Siyabonga Sangweni.
Gould converted a Jabu Maluleke cross after six minutes to give the visitors the lead, but Mbesuma levelled after a goal-mouth scramble.
Langerman put the visitors back in front after more good work out wide from Maluleke, but from then on in it was all Golden Arrows.
Arrows should have restored parity, five minutes after the interval when they were awarded a penalty by the referee. Gould was judged to have fouled Mbesuma in the Supersport danger area. However, the Zambian fluffed his attempt from the penalty spot.
Mbesuma did equalise on the hour-mark after being set-up by Thanduyise Khuboni, while Moon and Mbesuma had efforts superbly saved by Rowen Fernandez in the SuperSport goal.
Moon finally got the goal his play deserved as he drilled the ball home with 12 minutes remaining and the points were saved two minutes later when Sangweni headed home from Norikazu Murakami's corner.
It is a first win in charge for Abafana Bes'thende coach Ernst Middendorp, who will be hoping he can elevate his side into the top eight in the remaining four games of the season.
