Bloemfontein Celtic beat SuperSport United

Posted: 27 February 2011 Time: 18:02

Bloemfontein Celtic looked unstoppable as they trounced SuperSport United 5-0 in an Absa Premiership match at the Seisa Ramabodu Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The main threat in attack came from Luyanda Bacela, who scored a hat-trick on the day. The Celtic man was simply superb and seemed to pop up at the right time every time.

The win also means Celtic have now extended their unbeaten run in the League to 12 matches and are still the only team in the league who are undefeated at home.

The home side were on the attack from the first whistle and almost scored in the fifth minute when Bacela came within inches of giving his side the lead after he saw his 12-yard shot skim the wrong side of the upright.

Celtic only had to wait another three minutes before they did find the back of the net. Mulomowandau Matoho rounded off a good passing movement with a clinical finish from about ten yards out.

Celtic then only had to wait till the 25th minute to find their second goal when Danny Venter let fly with a powerful 25-yard shot which found the top left hand corner of the net.

In the 34th minute SuperSport saw themselves reduced to 10 men after Shane Poggenpoel was dismissed for a professional foul on Thokozani Mshengu.

Luyanda Bacela underlined Celtic’s dominance when he scored their third goal in the 39th minute. Again it was a good passing movement which led to Bacela finding space inside the box before driving a well placed shot home.

Things didn’t get any easier for SuperSport in the second half and Celtic really made their one man advantage count as they passed the ball around nicely and always seemed to find players in space.

The 73rd minute saw Bacela found his side’s fourth goal after he rounded off another impressive passing movement with a well placed finish from just inside the box.

The cherry on the cake for Celtic came in the 84th minute when Bacela found his side’s fifth goal in the game and his third. Bacela was clinical from 12 yards out when he drove the ball past a stranded Rowen Fernandez.

There's something very serious with SSU players. Kermit, Laffor, September and even Fikru no longer give all to the team bcos they think of playing somewhere else. Katza, Salmon and Carnell have passed his sell-by date long ago and this Hartog is just not the right material for SSU. This defending champions will find themselves playing in the play-offs if things continue like this.

To think that this motor-mouth was touted is the next Bafana coach, I can't wait for him to get fired. Pitso's team has been dismantled, he must build his own team with madala's like Fernandez, Carnell, Salmon and the others.

One advise to SS is "FIRE THE COACH"

they always sell good players, Laffor's heart is no more there, its time to bench him or let him go, Gavin, you need to dig deep into your players hearts, we know you can do it, they need to offer 100% effort!

hehehehe, you will see what Gavin will have to say about the whole game(munching the chewgum)TTM: whats your impression coach

Gavin: you cant defend like that, look we werr unlucky to day, we hit the post 5 times and so many chances we were suppose to be 6 or 7 goals up by second half.

TTM: you also received a red cad on the process

Gavin: Referees in this country are pathetic, that did not deserve even a yellow, my players were kicked the entire game and we never got any reward for that,

TTM: Do you still believe you will win the league

Gavin: Its nonsese if i convince people in this country, last season we were even in a worse position at this stage, but we won the league, we will start to regroup and defend our league title with ease.

TTM: and about your negative tacticts?

Gavin: tell whoever ask that we try and play it as high as possible

TTM: who is the threat in you league race now

Gavin: Sundowns and Celtic you see this perfomance today is a championship one, not chiefs or pirates they dont score all they do is pass the whole game. luckly we have glen salmon back and is our danger man with Fikfu.

kikikiki, iyaboniswa this Baboon, Bafana really strugled when supersport were winning the league, and SA futbal was on serious decline. eithr chiefs or bucs must win the league for the benifit of the country. what Katza, Fikru, Maluleka, Ramadzuli can do for a national team including brown

Results of the business at supersports, not in a soccer business but business of selling players. The coach is not at fault but the management
