Stars hold Chiefs to draw

Platinum Stars held Kaizer Chiefs to a goalless draw in an Absa Premier League game at Olympia Park Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Amakhosi dominated the match, but could not capitalise on their dominance.
Chiefs threatened in 15th minute when they launched a quick counter-attack, but Stars’ keeper Wayne Sandilands bravely came out to collect a good cross by Shaun Bartlett.
Siphiwe Tshabalala then wasted a good chance in the 23rd minute when he blasted the ball over from a promising position inside the area.
Chiefs’ keeper Emille Baron was forced into his first save of the game in the 33rd minute when he did well to hold out Simba Marumo’s long range effort.
Onismor Bhasera then saw his long range effort saved by Sandilands in the 35th minute.
Amakhosi skipper Cyril Nzama wasted a glorious chance a minute before half time when he headed wide from a free-kick by Arthur Zwane.
The match remained goalless at half-time.
Stanley Kgatla wasted a glorious chance to put Stars ahead in the opening minutes of the second half when he shot wide from close range.
Nzama sent another header wide from a promising position in the 75th minute, this time from a Thuso Phala free-kick.
Four minutes later Kaizer Motaung Jnr wasted the best chance of the game when he shot wide from close range after collecting a cross by Phala.
Koketso Mmotong should have handed Stars the win in the 85th minute when he ran clear of goal, but produced a poor effort which Baron saved comfortably saved.
