Ajax Cape Town beat Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 at the Cape Town Stadium thanks to Brent Carelse's second half penalty.

It was a thrilling 90 minutes, Absa Premiership football at its very best.

In front of a thunderous crowd, the game got off to a breath-taking start, with the atmosphere in the stands causing the players to play at an unbelievable speed.

Ajax had two good early chances, but Granwald Scott’s application on a header was poor when he was set up by Sameehg Doutie with only a minute gone.

And then Khama Billiat just failed to chip Itumleng Khune, who did well to get a touch on the ball, making up for his initial error – a poor clearance straight to the Ajax attacker.

Chiefs’ first real chance came in the 14th minute when some poor defending let Knowledge Musona in, but he dragged his shot just wide from out on the right.

The game remained tight, and fast, with Ajax looking to catch AmaKhosi on the break, but the Cape side failed to master the Chiefs off-side trap.

The Soweto side looked set to take a 40th minute lead, but they did not reckon on Ajax keeper Hans Vonk, who made a stop that could be a contender for save of the season as he dived full length to deny Kaizer Motaung Junior.

Ajax took the lead eight minutes after the restart, courtesy of the penalty spot, where Brent Carelse bravely put the ball past Khune.

The penalty came after Serero burst goal-wards, showing good body strength to draw Tinashe Nengomasha into the foul.

AmaKhosi tried to hit back through Motaung, but he sent a shot just wide, while for Ajax, Serero was nicely set up by George Maluleka in the 72nd minute, but shot over.

There was relentless pressure from AmaKhosi late on, but some poor finishing, one culprit being Sthembiso Ncgobo, and some fine defending saw the Cape side through ton the final whistle, the young Urban Warriors showing great character to stand firm against a quality AmaKhosi unit.

Chips r soft hence they r a favorite meal for the Cape Townians since most of the Cape Townians hv got no front teeth. Remember they were eaten by Vasco 3-2; Santos 1-0 not mentioning FS Stars 1-0. Only Bucs hv lost only 2x ds season.

Very ordinary team, what do you expect from them. The referee tried had to give it the Chimps but God is not a fool and something had to happen and Ajax did just what was suppose to be done.
I've always said this team is Musona and if he is off form they always struggle to score goals. But teams are going to plan against Musona and not the team.
Its now a perfect opportunity for Krol to take that which is for us, seating on top the throne until end of the season when the crown is handed to us.I'm not sure if Sundowns will win tomorrow.

All these teams are playing count attack when they play against us, VV should be aware of that.
Pirates count attack,
FSS count attack,
Sunkop count attack.
Aces count attack,
Ajax count attack.
The list is endless.

It should have been: Ajax 8- Chiefs 0. It is clear that chief rely heavily on luck & is not championship material. They played lyk ameteurs with stupid offsite trap. One day Musona wld b injured and no one wil score 4 dem. Referee tried his best once again by denying Ajax a clear penalty in the 1st half but was let down by poor Chiefs offsite trap tactics.

I have said it and i'm going to say it again cabbage village thinks winning the league is beating Sundowns and Pirates.

You can beat Sundowns 1000 millions times as long by the end of the season the league comes to domkop that's what count my people. Idiot's village go beat Amazulu and Celtics then you can start talking about the league.

if musona is off form we always lose matches. VV must find a good backup. We can't beat Downs and Pirates only and win the tittle. You must beat every team in the league and win the tittle. There are 16 matches to play we need to win 12 drawn 2 and lose 2. Then we can be champs but if we fail to do this lets forget about R10 000 000. And focus on the cup games.

well it could've easily been 5-0 in favour of ajax.
I Stil maintain that the only team that will be a thorn to Sundowns ambitions of winning in league is only Ajax, these kaizerbels are nothing but an inflated condom with pipeline an dream of winning something they were never made for.
Sundowns to win tomorrow!

nipson: you are so bitter man relax this is football. You win some and lose some. You were not playing against Sundowns or Pirates. Maybe you need to realize beating these 2 teams only wont win you the league. Leave Yende alone and give praise where its due. Ajax game plan was spot on. They matched you with pace and what separated men from boyz was ' skill'. Have 2 beers just to drown your sorrows.
