Santos beat Golden Arrows

Posted: 7 January 2011 Time: 22:01

Golden Arrows’ slide down the table continued as they lost 3-1 to an on-form Santos side at the Athlone Stadium on Friday night.

The Santos goals were scored by Vuyisile Wana and a brace by Graham King while Siyabonga Nkosi scored for Arrows.

Vuyisile Wana was the star if the night for the home side - Santos went ahead as early as the third minute when Wana scored with a real blinder, unleashing a rocket of a shot from nearly 40-yards out that dipped past Helton da Rocha.

Wana turned provider in the 29th minute, putting Salmaan King in on goal with a clever ball, but King’s chip hit the crossbar.

However, King made no mistake just a minute later, gratefully running onto to Wana’s defence splitter and putting the ball past the on-rushing da Rocha.

Arrows however hit back with a 35th minute goal, former Chiefs man Siyabonga Nkosi coolly slotted home after Siyanda Zwane’s square ball.

But the Cape side took just 10 minutes of second half action to regain the upper-hand, King scoring with a header on the bounce, Wana again the provider.

Santos never really looked back after that, with an Nkosi free kick 10 minutes from time all Arrows could really muster as the hosts hustled in midfield and found Wayne Arendse and Musa Otieno reliable when called upon.
