Ten-man Stars hold Pirates

Posted: 22 December 2010 Time: 22:53

The 10 men of Platinum Stars put in a fine performance to hold Orlando Pirates to a 0-0 draw at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Indeed, Dikwena had the better of the chances and might even have walked away with all three points were it not for some fine keeping from Senzo Meyiwa in the Bucs goal, even after Lebo Ramolesa had received his marching orders.

Stars were the first to threaten when Ramolesa played an inviting cross into the Pirates’ danger area, but Thuso Phala, who was only left with Meyiwa to beat, directed his attempt wide.

Stars created a lot of chances in the opening period and looked odds on to score, but lacked composure in the box at times.

In a rare foray up the other end, Stars goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini did well to deny Teko Modise what could have been an opener for the home side.

Stars suffered a serious blow when winger Lebo Ramolesa was red carded by referee Jerome Damon for a second bookable offence in 55th minute and Pirates understandably began to see more of the ball after that.

Patrick Malokase had the ball in the net, but the former Bloemfontein Celtic striker was adjudged to have been offside. Stars could have opened the score in the 77th minute through Phala, but he was again denied by Meyiwa in Pirates goal as the keeper parried his well taken shot.

Hehe the general is back hehe the navigator is back hehe Teko is back after 2years playing crap kuphi? The guy is still proving that he was overrated now he just shoots any ball wanting to be a hero after spending 18 months without scoring a goal. Platinum stars is not struggling like Swallows that’s why the average player produced average performance.

Modise Teko is jem, Wow this boy is worth watching, He tried his atmost best to get Pirates to play, he makes intelligent runs a on and off the ball. He shoot from a distance and create chances for his mates.

Teko must lead Pirates, Teko must be our captain. Legwathi is just expirienced but he lacks leadership qualities.

The Real NAVIGATOR is back doing what he does best "NAVIGATING"

Mark Mayambela is tryong hard to impress and in the process he does wrong thigns. We are still league contenders and the coach is starting to understand what we want.

To all those who wants Rudi Kroll to go, i would like to ask them nicely to realise that he still have a contract with the team, so we might as well support him, since we luv our team.

Krol downfall is on using 2 defensive middlefildrs............Manyisa and Ngobeni....................jali and ngobeni...................Jali and Manyisa.............Mr Krol.....Use teko or mayambela in the middle...if you want to see pirates perform well. Anyway im glad your contract is coming to an end

Mr Editor

I think your reporting is not accurate or you were either watching the game on TV at home. I was at the game. Pirates dominated the game from the word go thought credit must be given to PS for their defence. It was only after Clifford Ngobeni was pulled out due to injury that PS started playing on the same footing with Pirates, though Pirates at times looked more dangerous. The jersey number 3 player of PS on the right flank was troublesome - why not inform us about, the chances he missed.

Journalist must stop insulting us by this kind of reporting no wonder the ANC wants a Media Tribunal. You young journos must learn from fair reporters like Sy Lerman, Thomas Kwenaite, Cujo et al as they do not take sites. They report the truth. It is an open secret that that these journos support their local teams and they give credit when it is due and discredit when the need arises. Reading this piece I feel disrespected and under valued as customer of Kickoff print and online.

demon wants to see OP loose every game he is officiating, to be honest used to like him until last night, used to think all the mistakes he made in the past maybe anyone, me included under the same shoe, I would have made the same call, but now, think the guy has something against the team! I still think Ngobeni is our downfall, he is no OP material, history will prove me wrong! this guy was class at Ajax, but now after all the games he played for OP, still think just like Malokasi, some players are not for particular teams
