AmaZulu beat Mpumalanga Black Aces 4-0

Posted: 19 December 2010 Time: 17:57

AmaZulu thumped Black Aces 4-0 at Princess Magogo Stadium on Sunday afternoon for their second win of the season.

A brace from Lehlohonolo Majoro and further strikes from Tangeni Shipahu and Ntokozo Sikhakhane were enough to end the Usuthu’s 10 game winless streak.

AmaZulu got the first on two minutes, a back-post header from Lehlohonolo Majoro, following a superb defence splitting pass by Tangeni Shipahu and an equally excellent first-time cross Thabo Mabaso.

Mpho Maleka, with six goals to his name this season, could have equalised in the sixth minute, but his touch was too heavy, allowing Mbongeni Mzimela to move off his line and get a touch on the subsequent shot from a tight angle.

10 minutes later Aces found themselves 2-0 down when Shipahu netted from a tight angle, having beaten Denis Onyango to the ball after the keeper found himself stranded.

Midway through the first half, Sibusiso Dabi’s header from Marawaan Bantam’s corner struck the cross-bar.

With five minutes to go before the break it was Usuthu’s turn to be frustrated by the woodwork as Majoro powered a drive into the bar after being given too much space on the edge of the area.

With the first half in injury time, AmaZulu midfielder Ntokozo Sikhakane made it 3-0, netting his third goal of the season with a side-footed effort after Majoro had cut the ball across goal towards the back post.

Aces showed some positive signs in attack after the break, but the finishing touch continued to elude them.

Dabi came close again, but not close enough, when his 55th minute header flew wide of the near upright.

In the 65th minute Majoro netted his second, curling the ball around Onyango.

And t was nearly 5-0 in the 70th minute, but Shipahu’s angled drive went just wide of the far upright.

To their credit, Aces kept pushing right up to the final whistle for a goal, but that would be scant consolation for Tovey as he contemplates a testing five months after the Christmas break.
