Platinum Stars beat Moroka Swallows

Platinum Stars beat Moroka Swallows 2-0 in a League match on Saturday night.

Bradley Grobler scored a brace for Stars.

The Birds were not at their best on the night as they struggled to hold onto the ball and often gifted possession to the visiting side with some poor passing. Stars, though, worked hard in the midfield to win the ball and made good use of it in the opening 45 minutes.

The midfield battle was were the Tycoons dominated as they controled proceedings in the middle of the park: their passing was slick and they fought hard to win the ball when they did lose it.

The first decent chance of the game went the way of the home side in the 19th minute. Keegan Ritchie used his pace to outstrip the Stars defence, but failed to capitalise when he skied his shot over the crossbar from 12-yards out.

Platinum Stars did eventually make Greg Etafia, the Swallows goalkeeper, work in the 25th minute. Bradley Grobler found himself in some space on the edge of the 18-yard area and let fly with a shot that pulled the best out of Etafia. The Birds keeper was at full stretch to his right to parry his effort away from danger.

Again, four minutes later, and Etafia was called into action. Lehlohonolo Thebakang whipped in a cross from the right side and Grobler rose highest to head the ball goalwards, but Etafia was up for the challenge with another fine close range save.

The rest of the half saw Stars dominating proceedings, but unable to create any other decent chances on goal.

The second half saw Swallows coming into the game a bit as they were able to finally hold onto the ball for a sustained period of time. But that all came crashing down when they conceded a penalty kick in the 59th minute.

Lebo Ramolesa made his way into the Swallows area and was pulled down by Phumelele Bhengu. The referee did not hesitate in pointing to the spot. Grobler stepped-up and coolly slotted his penalty-kick to give his side the lead, 1-0.

That goal seemed to knock the wind out of the Birds as Stars once again took firm control of the match and began applying pressure on the Swallows goal.

In the 71st minute the Tycoons made the pressure pay when Grobler grabbed his brace and doubled his side’s lead. Lebo Ramolesa did some good work down the flank before supplying a pin point cross to pick out an unmarked Grobler inside the box. The Stars player made no mistake slotting the ball home form six-yards out, 2-0.

With that goal Stars had sealed their victory as they seemed content to sit back and defend their lead, which they did with relative ease.

Hey Mr. Leon Prins i can see that you don't have a walk away clause in your Employment Contract with Mr. Zobel.
But i'm warning you that the very same loyal supportters will be losing their cool if the situation continues like this.
And once Swallows supportters and fans start to loose their cool then Zola Majavu will summon the Club befor PSL Disciplinary Committee.
People emotions are at stake here, people have invested their emotions here. So please and please again dont play with their emotions.
Just do what's good for the Club by firing Mr. Zobel. I think the current Swallows Coach was unlucky with Swallows team and i believe he might be good somewhere, not at Swallows.
It's now becoming a risk to continue with Mr. Zobel as Moroka Swallows FC Head Coach.
It's also becoming more alarming for you Mr. Prins as Moroka Swallows FC C.E.O!
Do what is right Mr. Prins..!

You clowns, every blooming paper has that exact same article with the same stupid mistakes. Platinum Stars were, in fact, the home team. Didn't anybody that watched the game bother reporting on it?

Even with Mourinho at the helm, the Birds will still be at the bottom of the log.Just take a look at their starting eleven and the reserves and tell me who do you think will make the team play.

They should talk to Pirates about Schalkwyk,Sundowns about Koketso mmotong and lastly Walaza from wherever he is just to mention few players or resign to being relegated.
