Bucs can't cut into champs' lead

Posted: 3 February 2010 Time: 21:54

Orlando Pirates missed a great opportunity to cut SuperSport United’s lead at the top of the table after a goalless draw at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Bucs shaded the first half, but there was very little action in the second half as the players visibly tired after the six-week break.

However, it was an exciting start to the match as Siyabonga Nkosi forced Moeneeb Josephs into a smart diving save after just five minutes.

Straight after Pirates had their best chance of the game as Terror Fanteni capitalised on a slip by David Kannemeyer to run through on goal. However, his attempt was weak as Emille Baron rushed out to save with his legs.

Josephs again had to be alert to save from Daine Klate on 11 minutes, while Teko Modise, who looked full of running, tested Baron with a quick free-kick from all of 35 metres.

It was SuperSport who finished the half stronger as Klate’s looping header beat Josephs, but not Rooi Mahamutsa, who cleared off the line.

Klate soon had another great chance – this time shooting over from 10 metres out after being set up by Glen Salmon.

In the second half, Klate should have done better with a header from Laffor’s cross, while Zvenyika Makonese made a brilliant last-ditch tackle to deny Brent Carelse a run in on goal.

Lebohang Mothibantwa, who came on for Mlungisi Mdluli at half-time, had a shot from distance flash wide as the game meandered out for a tame draw.

It means SuperSport maintain their three-point lead at the top of the table after Sundowns could only draw with Bloemfontein Celtic earlier in the evening.

Hade Mabhakabhaka! Your work is quite commendable.

Aluwani, once again boet.... Only in instances where the player is unrecognisable, or unbeleivebly deceiving in looks! lovl.

But sometimes the surnames are too long to fit , so a name or nickname is accepteble.

Im not happy Boss Thses Gus could have won the game first half. Fantenio is always on kickoff talkin of game time but when given he messis up. I mean he should have sealed in the first half two clear cut chances. It makes me angry when I have to go the stadium and its cold and we end up getting soaked without any positive results. These Guys need to catch a wake up. Krol is really applying to be fired I mean Gumbi/Mdluli Has the best seat to watch the game compared to all spectators, I mean he is just observing with no impact what so ever. Teko My favorite player what happened Second half Where were you boss. You were loosing ball and nearly cost us at some point. Moneeb, Moneeb,Moneeb They can say what ever they want to say But you are the No.1 Goal keeper in the country hence thats why you are sitting at an avarage of 65% Clean Sheet. You are the man bossw I take of my hat to you. I looking foward to the CAF champions league atleast we can try and make history again. Come on Mabhakaniya make us happy especially after the rain poured on us like that yesterday.YOU OWE US.Once and Always.

Decent match, unlike the CRIME I witnessed on DStv channel 200.

After realising that CRIME was in course of action on SS Blitz, I tried to call 10111 but all lines seemed to have been cut off as well, CRIME! CRIME! CRIME!

I think Pirates players are not happy with the coach, because i noticed that at least Teko was regaining his confidence the time they were playing for Bafaba Bafana, but yesterday he was just nowhere, hence i think there might be a problem at the Bucs camp.

No goal in last 3 games Or should I say no ship robbed in last 3 seas visited. It's time they consider changing that name. I mean Pirate in Soweto? Where is the sea there?

When Pirates play friendly games one would think that our coach is trying different combinations to see who can step in for whoever is under performing in the starting eleven i.e Modise,Mashego,Mbuyane,Mdluli,Mabalane and Lekgwati, but no, our coach uses friendlies just to keep players fit. The minute the starting eleven was named it singled that we would either draw or lose. It would have been better if we lost and then we could use the next five matches to prepare for next season or for the Champions league. Krol, you are too defensive baba and I doubt that you are aware of our history. Another thing that is killing Pirates is that there are too many Black players in the side and hence they all think alike that they are the best thing since sliced bread. This team needs more wito's, bruino's and chaaro's in the side. After all Pirates is the peoples's team and not a darkie side. Yes I said it and it is the truth. There are just too many of only one race in the side and that is a big problem at Pirates.
