Downs keep winning

Posted: 13 December 2009 Time: 18:00

The Moses Mabhida Stadium continues to be an unhappy hunting ground for AmaZulu, as they were beaten 3-0 by visitors Mamelodi Sundowns.

All three goals came in the second half goals through the efforts of Katlego Mphela (brace) and Lebohang Mokoena.

In their previous outing at this venue, AmaZulu were beaten 1-0 by Maritzburg United.

This result stretches Sundowns current unbeaten run to five matches, and Bafana Bafana minders will be pleased with Mphela’s good form in front of goals. His strikes in this encounter took his tally of goals to 15, as he continues to head the PSL goalscoring standings.

Although the steady drizzle which fell during much of the first half forced the almost 7 000 supporters in attendance to scurry for cover, they certainly would have not had much to complain about concerning the on-field action.

Both teams were evenly matched, as they took turns to dominate. The standout moments of the first half was clearly the two attempts on goal from either side that hit the respective uprights. First, Mphela hit the post from just outside the penalty area after dispossessing Thamsanqa Sangweni in midfield in the fifth minute.

In the 18th minute Marc van Heerden watched in despair as his power-packed free-kick was tipped to safety by Brian Baloyi in the Sundowns goal, with the help of the post.

A minute later, AmaZulu had a legitimate penalty claim turned down when defender Siboniso Gaxa seemed to have used his hand to prevent the ball from falling into the path of AmaZulu’s Sibusiso Hadebe who was charging into the Sundowns box.

Baloyi was called into action a short while later, this time he got a firm touch to parry away Ayanda Dlamini’s strike from the edge of the area.

The match continued to in a similar in fashion in the second half, until the 70th minute when Mphela diverted Gaxa’s cross past Kalililo Kakonje in the AmaZulu goal. Sundowns supporters hardly completed their celebrations when Lebohang Mokoena crashed home a cross from the right flank a minute later.

The Mphela rubbed further salt into AmaZulu’s wounds when he converted a penalty with seconds remaining. The kick was awarded when Ntokozo Sikhakhane brought down Gaxa in the danger area. Sikhakhane, who replaced Sangweni in the 79th minute, received his marching orders for his efforts.

Forget the 3goals (nothin` new).... It was the exciting traditional Sundowns display that I`m chuffed about!

The flair, movement on and off the ball, accurate flowing passes was a marvel to watch! Need I say more ngo-'Pele'?

And it just got worse..... Moriri`s back! Now that`s worth blowing a vuvuzela for! 'Toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot'!

Downs are back and meaner than before! Samba!

While ''Onocwaka'' a.k.a Kaizer Chimps keep on talking about challenging for the league, Downs keep on ''walking'' that talk. I see bronze (gold for stupid thieves supporters) blood on the 19th, now that Moriri a.k.a ''Modimo wa Bolo'' is back, expect to see more tears from our opponents.

In the beggining of the season i said ''Stoichkov will be a legend at Downs given enough chance'', well today i still maintain that statement...!!!

Ben DUDE, some of US (The Smart KHOSI Fans) are not security guards and dont work night shifts, especially over weekends like most of YOU CIRCUS fans. After all, weekends are meant for spending time with family and friends, not to entertain some life-less idiots.

sundowns does not give me headaches

we play clinical football.

A lot of critics were very wrong about our technical Team

I for 1 saw this Ridicule Guy named David Kekana speaking to Pelembe During our game against Pie city very intimately , i wonder what was it about?

when we purchased Pelembe-he jumped off and said that Pelembe is going to a star sided team and he wont get game Time and it wil be another Blow

Pelemebe u have proven To me that u R the main drive within the Brazillians's dominent *all i need is a goal 4rom u

but let me not worry because i know you will put one past the Kaizer Bobby FC
