Bucs and Aces draw

Posted: 9 December 2009 Time: 21:34

Mpumalanga Black Aces fought back from a goal down to salvage a 1-1 draw in their Absa Premiership clash with Orlando Pirates at the Puma Rugby Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Pirates opened the scoring in the 13th minute through Bennett Chenene, but Aces earned the draw five minutes from time when experienced striker Mpho Maleka rose unchallenged in the box to beat Moeneeb Josephs.

A few hours before the game started, stadium management worked tirelessly to drain the waterlogged pitch. The game kicked off with puddles on the pitch, making it difficult for the players to express themselves.

Inside ten minutes, Pirates goalkeeper Josephs was forced to produce two saves in quick succession as Aces made their intentions clear.

However, it was Pirates who opened the scoring when an unmarked Chenene tapped home inside the box after connecting a defence-splitting pass from defender Happy Jele, who benefited from a ball that was misjudged by Felix Musasa on a watery patch.

Barely a minute after half-time, Katlego Mashego had his effort blocked by advancing Aces keeper Oscar Ramogoadi and the bouncing ball fell on the path of unmarked Thulasizwe Mbuyane, whose clever chip over the defence was headed away to safety by Godfrey Nobula on the line.

Four minutes before the half hour mark, Ruud Krol introduced Teko Modise for injured Gert Schalkwyk, but the Bafana Bafana international looked rusty after a long time on the sidelines as a result of injury.

Minutes after Modise's introduction, Chenene could have registered his brace but his header bounced off the ground, allowing Ramogoadi to parry for safety.

For a while, it looked like Pirates would walk away with the three points, but their defence was caught napping when Maleka headed home to earn AmaZayoni an important home point.

As a true soccer fan I have NO sympathy for Pierats fans. Most of them are fairweather supporters anyway. From now on they will boycott the team's games but as soon as the team start winning they return only to vanish wen they hit a dry patch.

Krol You dug your own grave.

When the team was performing well, you didnt even bother to shift the team and try new formations and tactics.

Now after the injuries and suspensions had creeped in, now you want to try out other players, which is wrong and also shows that you are confused.

First of all is that when the team is leading, you dont use substitutes. The reserve players only got a run on the training pitch which is far more different than the actual game itself.

Now you need the reserve players, and they cant perform because they still have to deal with stage fright, and long term rustyness. Where as you could have gave them the opportunity to be part of the winning team. Now that the ship is sinking, and you are expecting the players to create wonders in the pitch.

And i have a question for you, and i think everyone is trying to figure it out also. What is Gumbi's specialty?, what is that? That Gumbi is doing in the game that other players cant do? I think the player(gumbi) is the coach's favourite, and yet he does not produce. Lebogang Mothibantwa can do far more better than Gumbi who is getting game time and never better up.

I personally wish that Gumbi gets injured. A groin injury. Because i hate that player period. I am disappointed in you Krol. I never like a coach that practise favouritism. Get rid of gumbi. Give him a free transfer.

Try to play Teko in the middle.

Up the bucs.

Ps: People plz take Renteria back to Colombia. He is not Psl material.

Up the bucs.

Krol should by now be knowing who to play where. it's 2 seasons and things are getting worse. KROL SHOULD GO B4 IT'S TOO LATE. We are just a one goal team. This is unacceptable. we demand action now and i mean now or else it will be Khoza and Mbele watching the game from the stands and the opposition supporters. amen

I didn't watch the game but i was expecting a win. Now something tells me there is crisis e-Parktown. I am not even sure if Khoza is doing something about the situation.

Day by day i'm starting to lose faith in my coach. He must demonstrate some good tactics before end of the season or he must leave. You can see if someone is trying and you get to be patient with them, but clearly this is not the case with the coach. It's like he can't even imagine himself coming out of the dark. Somebody needs to account for all of this.

I think i would prefer S/Downs or Chiefs to win da league than SSU. This SSU will be history in in a decade's time and it would be a mission impossible trying to explain who SSU was.
