Free State beat Arrows

Posted: 9 December 2009 Time: 17:33

Free State Stars beat Golden Arrows 1-0 in a League match played at Chatsworth Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

The goal was scored in the first half by Kingston Nkhatha with a stunning free kick from about 30 metres away in the 33rd minute.

Stars mission of not letting Arrows settle on the ball, worked well throughout the match. As a result, Arrows play lacked its usual fluency.

Arrows’ first serious attempt on goal came in the came in the 42nd minute when Richard Henyekane started a move in the heart of the midfield with a surging run, and with the help of Lindokhule Bengu he progressed into the Stars box where he managed to round Kennedy Mwenee but his strike was cleared off the line by Martin Carelse.

Two minutes later, Mweene parried Thanduyise Khuboni’s well struck shot from outside the penalty area to safety.

Stars captain Duncan Lechesa almost doubled his teams lead in the 61st minute with a scorching shot from just outside the area that flew narrowly wide.

Four minutes later, Mofokeng wasted another clear-cut opportunity when he headed Paulus Mashehe’s cross off target from close range.

Mashehe drilled a shot from about twenty metres away in 81st which produced an acrobatic save from Khuzwayo.

Like the first half, the visitors were most threatening in the closing minutes.

Khuboni shot wide from just inside the area with five minutes to go and substitute Tshepo Mashego struck the Stars cross bar with the last kick of the game.

Ja I like what is happening at Arrows cos the players are sympathetic with Sangweni and Henekane who the management is treating them unprofessional whn they dont agree with signing fr the team again for peanuts as they can sell them with huge money. The players knows that this will happen even to them whn they want to leave. They did that to Nale,Zothwane etc
