SuperSport get an easy three

Posted: 9 December 2009 Time: 22:17

SuperSport United beat Moroka Swallows 3-0 in a rain-delayed match on Wednesday night.

Anthony Laffor hit a brace, sandwiching strike partner Glen Salmon’s goal just before half-time to complete a comprehensive scoreline.

Matsatsantsa now hold a seven point lead over Santos and Kaizer Chiefs in second and third place on the log respectively.

The match was delayed by 45 minutes due to heavy rain at the venue. Fortunately the game was not called off, as was the case with the fixture between Moroka Swallows and Free State Stars at Dobsonville just a week ago.

SuperSport got off to a stunning start, with Laffor opening the scoring in the first minute with a swirling cross from the right flank that drifted into the goal, embarrassing goalkeeper Greg Etafia who really should kept out the effort quite easily.

United’s early lead allowed them to dictate matters and Swallows’ defence was stretched on numerous occasions.

Daine Klate provided some great skill to create space for a cross and Salmon gleefully finished off the chance to double his side’s advantage just before the interval.

The hosts were much improved after the break but they weren’t able to really threaten SuperSport, who looked quite content to sit back and try to hit the Birds on the break.

And Laffor duly took advantage of some poor defending by the Soweto side to neatly lob the ball over the advancing Etafia with just under ten minutes to play, rounding off the scoring in style.

you are the best in south africa league but useless in african champions league looking at the draw for next year all south african teams are going to play in the preriminary round just because their useless in champions league, we always critise zimbabwe playes who are at chiefs but look their team Dynamos is rated among the best six teams in africa thats they are not playing in the preriminary round next year. can someone tell me a team that come from a country who spent 1hour in a queue just to buy a loaf of bread is far much better than our teams here its shocking please S.S.sport show the world that you not just good here but even in africa like what Dnamos always do.

One should be very silly to compare sa soccer to zimbabwean soccer. 1) After so many years of their independence and competing in the African league they have only managed number two.
2) Who remembers number two in football? Pirates has taken the cup before, chiefs has taken the Mandela cup.
3) for Zim reaching the group phase is a celebration sundowns has reached the finals and semi-finals so many times no one remembers them becoz number to for a winner is as bad as number last. 4)PSL pays way bigger than champions league, chiefs, pirates and chiefs have perennially withdrawn from such and got suspensions. Every league winner in the PSL looks forward to get knocked out 4)Zim is very hungry has the talent should compare itslf to TP Mazembe Al hilal of Sudan people that win cups while in a war zone.5) With all the individual talent known globally from that country Zim is a failure e.g. Bruce grobeelaar, Ndlovu brothers, Benjani, dream team not counting the average SA african based Nyandoros, and nengomashas

Why are you idiots complaining about SSU not performing in the African stage? Jealousy makes you guys ugly. SSU is still are very small and young team, give us break. There's a team called Kaizer Chiefs whose fans always brag about being the best but they never won the Champions League/Cup, what do you morons think of that. As far as I'm concerned, even Manning Rangers has a better African record than Chiefs (don't tell me about the Cup Winner's Cup). Sundowns atleast reached the finals.

And all these Zim teams that you guys are mentioning have been competing in the African stage for a long time, why haven't they won it? I suggest that if yu cowards don't have anything to say then just shut the f$%^# up.

Swallows are not doing anything in the PSL except to add numbers. I feel sorry for their supporters.

SuperSport just keep scoring lots of goals. I wonder what Hunt's trick is to make his side score so much more than any other side?
