Arrows add to Cosmos' woes

Posted: 24 November 2009 Time: 23:08

Jomo Cosmos suffered their 10th loss in 17 Absa Premiership games when they went down 1-0 to Golden Arrows at the Rand Stadium on Tuesday night.

Ezenkosi made a fairly lively start to the game, holding their own in the first 20 minutes or so, although they struggled to create any real clear-cut chances.

Sekou Camara, effectively playing up front by himself in the opening half, did his best to make things happen for Cosmos, but all he had to show for his efforts was a 22nd minute shot which flew over the bar, before an injury forced him to depart the action soon afterwards.

Arrows took a 33rd minute lead when Thanduyise Khuboni’s storming run cut through the heart of the Cosmos defence.

Khuboni was picked out by an inch-perfect 30-yard pass by Njabulo Manqana, allowing him to easily beat keeper Avril Phali, who was badly exposed by a static Ezenkosi rearguard.

Five minutes before the break it appeared as if Abafana Bes’thende had doubled their lead when Richard Henyekane’s inviting cross from the right was put into the net by Thamsanqa Gabuza’s diving header, but the goal was deemed off-sides.

Arrows started the second stanza on the attack, with Phali twice making good saves from Manqana in quick succession.

Cosmos though began to show more urgency in attack, but still struggled to threaten the Arrows goal, with Ayo Oluwafemi’s long range effort in the 54th minute making sure that Arrows custodian Thulasizwe Khuzwayo was kept on his toes.

However, it was Khuzwayo’s counterpart, Phali, who had a super game for the hosts, who was soon to make far more difficult saves as he tipped Gabuza’s 75th minute header over the bar and then denied Henyekane the chance to pull the trigger in the 78th minute when he stole the ball off the Arrows striker’s feet.

Cosmos put good effort into the final 15 minutes of the game, but time and time again they lacked the spark up front needed to convert what were on occasion good build ups, into goals.

Mr Sono, fire the coach!

The Cosmos boss needs to fire the coach because this coach is not putting pressure on mangmnt to buy players. Jomo's arrogance will be his undoing and he would have nobody to blame but himself.

you will never ever achieve anything if you exploit people becasue they want to survive

Jomo "Crying Daddy" is paying some players R3000.00 PM. If i am not wrong, the highest payed player at Cosmos maybe receive about R7500.00 PM.

Jomo u are living in the past, u are greeedy, and stubborn. Bring other people on board to save your Pride.

One last thing Jomo, u are surrounded by Idiots, and that makes you ...........

This got nothing to do with Jomo and his team...It just says something about our so-called second Division league (Mvela League).

if a team like cosmos can become the champs of that league and get promotion to the so-called elite (PSL) league...I have a problem with that!

The Department of Sports and Recreation and its agency SAFA, must do something about the state of affairs in South African football in General!

There are not standards set whatsoever...weak teams like black Leopards are doing well beating weak teams in the Mvela league and their will be promoted to the same weal PSL league under the auspices of SAFA.

This is wrong...this Mvela league must be scraped and the PSL must be expanded to 20 teams and have a feeder reserve team to play in their own league.

Vodacom league must still be around but the must be a stringent qualification criteria for them to get access to PSL.

If a team is relegated from the PSL...that team must be fined heavily by not be allowed to come back for something like three years.

So it means that teams must earn their stripes to be part of the PSl...Now that there is this Mvela league...Ownres like Jomo will nopt focus on their teams..instead will focus on selling players but not buying.

Jomo must just start watching the Mvela matches bbecause he will be there next season...Nomakanjani.

Wena Vv, you must catch a wake...you can become the league winner if yiu can beat the Lucky Supersport and its lucky coach tonight...

Please people dont kill me on this but who ever was calling for this muti believer in soccer to BB coach was out of his mind

We will turn the corner - Phali......AND HE WENT ON TO SAY.......

It is too early for that; there are still 14 matches to go and winning seven or eight of those matches will definitely do the trick for us,” he says.

I REST MY CASE.....hehehehee!!!!

“In football nowadays 70 percent is pure luck and the remaining 30 percent is hard work.

He has ran out of that muti potion or he is not paying the inyanga enough for that luck he's talking about

Cosmos is now a foot and a quarter back to the first division if Jomo persists with his arrogancy witch saw him as one of the nominees for the SAFA awards recently. He needs to appoint a real coach because he is not good enough. Maybe he is just happy to make players for another teams.

there goes my fantasis of seing Jomo competing in the ABSA premiership next season, but he must get real defenders, his back four are letting him down, Moloto is not a premiership material, he has to drop him,

Itwas an explosive match, I think Cosmos were unlucky on the nite. They could have scored 3 goals in the second half. That boy Bardenhost is going places, keep it up sonny! Fly the Swazi flag sky high, Mjomana when are going to see Taribo and Biaino? Good luck in the coming fixtures.

The guy produced and donated a lot of players due to sneaking in and out of the league. Players like Fish,Motale,Mkhalele,Laffor,Nhleko,Letsholonyane, Nahayo,Gould and many more. Don't you think that is what he knows best.?.

Jomo Cosmos FC is an amatuer CLUB from Management to players to Security Guards and even tea ladies and cleaners. They do not even deserve to play in the first division.

Sorry guys. But truth is, mayambela has NOT signed for pirates YET. Kickoff tells us they did. And i was suspicious on the legitimacy of the story and i was proving right.I'm not against Kickoff but i really appreciate the truth and fact. Kickoff did not give us that.
Mayambela will be playing for Celtics today against Santos. Makes you wonder what is happening with our media doesnt it?

The league is not yet over now so he will eventually donate. I was just bringing history to point out how he had done things before 'cause he hasn't changed. As for now you are right I don't see any player yet...
