Chiefs down Arrows

Posted: 28 October 2009 Time: 21:37

Kaizer Chiefs beat Golden Arrows 2-0 in an Absa Premiership clash at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday night.

The goals were scored by Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Kaizer Motaung Jnr.

In the early stage Arrows did not look like a team who had contested a Cup Final a few days earlier, but midway through the first half they began to wane.

On 39 minutes Motaung Jnr. sent a perfectly floated cross towards Letsholonyane, who rose to meet the ball and headed it away from Da Rocha and home to put the home team 1-0 in front.

With half time approaching Arrows produced a moment of magic with quick, one-touch passing which almost came to pay dividends when Richard Henyekane back-heeled the ball into the path of Philani Shange, who forced Arthur Bartman to come up with a big save.

In the 42nd minute Letsholonyane and Motaung Jnr. swapped roles, as the former was able to collect a lob over the Arrows defence by Jimmy Tau and square the ball to the unmarked Motaung Jnr. who was able to gently knock the ball home to give Chiefs a 2-0 lead and also put his name into the history books as his goal was Chiefs 600th in the PSL.

Arrows’ best chance of the match came with 25 minutes remaining as Ntlantla Zothwane was able to react quickly to pick up a miss hit clearance by Chiefs keeper Bartman. Zothwane collected the ball and let fly at goal from 22-yards out; his sweetly hit shot went along the ground beat Bartman but could only hit the bottom of the right hand post.

Perhaps the biggest highlight of the second half was the failure of a few floodlights which got the fans cheering – it was in the final minute of normal time and did not make much of a difference to the players and both teams continued on to complete the game.

I really didnt like what our couch did to Abia Nale, He should apologise to the young boy. He kills his spirit and he has to treat players equally. We are facing a tuff match on saturday and we need the player in a squard will be playing on a day. But after all we happy about the results.

I thought you were professional but if you gonna keep on doing this to our players , Chiefs wont even be in the Top 8 by end of the season .

I'm happy about the victory but treating our players like this .......it's a BIG NO

Coach: I actually HATE what you did to Nale & Rooi

I've never seen you doing this to Kaizer Motoung Jnr when he was off form. It was clear to everyone in the country that Kaizer Jnr was off form but you NEVER did this stupid behaviour to him.
I'm sorry to the Khosi family but tonight I will call you STUPID COACH , sies
