Katlego Mashego scored all four goals as Supersport United returned to the summit of the Absa Premiership with victory over Moroka Swallows on Saturday night.
What made the feat even more impressive was that Mashego was only brought on at halftime after the teams had gone into the break goalless.
The 25-year-old scored his hat-trick in the 61st, 68th and 70th minute – a hat-trick in under 10 minutes – before adding a fourth in injury time. The feat takes his personal tally for the season to ten League goals.
Swallows opened the scoring in the 59th minute, when Japhet Zwane crossed the ball to Sandile Ndlovu from the left of the box, who made no mistake in putting it away.
Mashego equalised two minutes later, taking advantage of a reckless back pass by Ndlovu, and the Supersport striker ran over the defence and shot past Swallows keeper Greg Atafia to make things level.
Haskins put Swallows ahead again in the 66th minute, after Supersport dealt badly with a corner kick taken by Zwane.
In the 67th minute Edward Malinga was booked for a reckless tackle on Mashego, and with the resulting penalty the Supersport striker made it 2-2.
Mashego complete his hat-trick in the 70th minute after some nice work by Fikru Teferra, and scored his fourth after 90 minutes from close range, after receiving a square pass from Siboniso Gaxa.
The result takes Supersport to the top of the table with 51 points, ahead of Ajax Cape Town on 50. Moroka Swallows are in 9th place on 39 points, behind Kaizer Chiefs, Golden Arrows and Platinum Stars, who all have 40.
