AmaZulu managed an uninspiring 0-0 draw with Platinum Stars in their Absa Premiership match on Sunday afternoon.
It was an quiet day for Wayne Sandilands and Kalilio Kakonje, as they hardly had a save to make all game. The game was a stop-start affair, with both teams making mistakes and battling to hold on to possession.
Masoeng Sillo had a chance in the 5th minute, from inside the box, but his shot was blocked by the keeper.
In the 25th minute, Lefa Mogaila had a clear chance to make it 1-0 to Stars, but his long-range effort missed by millimetres.
Just before half-time, Dumisani Ngwenya had the best chance of the game, when he came from the wing and had a go for goal with his left foot, but his shot was saved.
In the 77th minute Steve Lekoelea stepped up to take a Stars free-kick from 30 yards, but his attempt went just over the bar. In the 84th AmaZulu had a free-kick of their own, taken by John Moshoeu, but the veteran’s effort went just over the crossbar.
Pere Ariweriyai took a throw-in in the 89th minute, which was headed towards goal by Mpho Maleka. Sandilands was off his line, but was fortunate to see the ball come of the crossbar.
The game takes Usuthu and Stars to positions 11 and 12 on the log, respectively, with 31 points each, although Stars have a game in hand.
