Arrows shoot to fifth place

Posted: 5 April 2008 Time: 17:06

Golden Arrows beat Bloemfontein Celtic 3-0 in an Absa Premiership match at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday and shot to fifth place on the log table.

Joseph Musonda netted in the third minute, Abia Nale scored just after the hour and Ntlantla Zothwane scored in the 88th minute, condemning Celtic to their 12th loss of the season.

Musonda scored from a free-kick and although he did not put tremendous power in to the shot, it slipped through the arms of Simon Gopane. Celtic were blunt upfront, and when they were on target Brendan Wardle was steady in goal.

Arrows anchorman Kagisho Dikgacoi gave Celtic captain John Maduka little room to manoeuvre in midfield and at the same time started attacks from his half. The hosts went in to the break 1-0 up.

Abafana Bes'thende playmaker Philane Shange threaded a defence-splitting pass to Nale who remained cool enough to loft the ball over the advancing Gopane and in to the back of the net. Arrows’ confidence grew as the match wore on.

Celtic defender Gary Goldstone thwarted a few attacks, but the backline started crumbling as Arrows attacked relentlessly. Despite all the pressure they only scored two minutes before full-time.

Zothwane rose above a stationary Celtic rearguard to head home the final goal of the game. Arrows now have 35 points, nine more than the hapless Celtic who stay in 13th place.

This is what happens to teams whose fans wanna run the club, clearly Zondo's head is bound to roll, it's inevitable.

I enjoyed watching this game. Surely this guys were playing what we used to cry abt which is African Soccer. U go many goals and start entertaining fans simple as that. Than firing blanks or not trying the keeper at all like Cosmos.
