Chiefs shoot down Stars

Kaizer Chiefs scored four goals in the space of 20 minutes to blitz Absa Premiership high-flyers Free State Stars 4-1 at the Charles Mopeli Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Ea Lla Koto looked likely to hand Chiefs a first away defeat of the season thanks to goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene's penalty, but a brace from Gerald Sibeko and fine strikes from David Mathebula and Mabhuti Khenyeza, all in the second half, saw Amakhosi claim a morale boosting away victory.
Stars striker Diyo Sibisi had the ball in Chiefs' net in just the 10th minute, but he was ruled offside after some fine play by Sthembiso Ngcobo.
In the 17th minute Sibisi's clever ball over the top sent Thulasizwe Mbuyane clean through on goal, but keeper Itumeleng Khune came bravely off his line to block the midfielder's shot with his body.
Khune was the busier of the two goalkeepers, but Mweene had to make a magnificent save in the 40th minute to keep out Sibeko's stinging half volley.
Eight minutes after the break Chiefs conceded a soft penalty when Sibisi and defender Mokete Tsotetsi collided in the 18-yard area. The man called upon to take the kick was, surprisingly, Mweene, but he did well to find the back of the net from the spot and put his team 1-0 up.
On the hour-mark Mweene was again called into action, this time in a manner more expected of a goalkeeper, as he did well to catch Thuso Phala's goal-bound header.
Chiefs drew level on 65 minutes when Sibeko drilled home a shot after a good pull-back across the penalty area by Mathebula.
And two minutes later Mathebula put his name on the scoresheet, surging down the right of the penalty area before beating Mweene at his near post with a powerful shot into the roof of the net.
Substitute Khenyeza scored with virtually his first touch in the 78th minute, flicking home Phala's pull-back at the near post, and seven minutes later Sibeko curled a free-kick into the top corner to close out the scoring.
