Orlando Pirates dropped valuable points in their chase for the Absa Premiership title, drawing 0-0 with Black Leopards at the Johannesburg Stadium on Saturday night.
The result means the Buccaneers move up to third on 35 points, seven adrift of leaders Ajax Cape Town. Leopards remain bottom, but cut the gap to 15th placed Jomo Cosmos to two points.
Peter Mponda had an early effort at goal for Leopards, but his long range drive went wide of goal.
Pirates' first shot in anger only came in the 26th minute, with Teko Modise putting his drive off target.
With both teams struggling to string together good attacking moves, it was little surprise that the first half ended goalless.
Ten minutes after the break Modise had a sight of goal in the penalty area but he put his shot wide of Mashudu Mamphitha's left hand upright.
Pirates mentor Owen Da Gama sent on Irvin Mhlambi and Joseph Makhanya with just over 20 minutes to play, but it was Leopards who almost broke the deadlock in the 77th minute, as Senzo Meyiwa was forced into a brilliant save to deny Robert Ng'ambi.
Makhanya soon fashioned a shot from 12 yards out, but his effort went wide of goal.
