AmaZulu down Thanda

Posted: 5 March 2008 Time: 22:01

AmaZulu beat Thanda Royal Zulu FC 2-1 in an exciting Absa Premiership match played at the ABSA Stadium on Wednesday night.

The AmaZulu goals were scored by a Siyabonga Mkhwanazi brace while Ryan Botha pulled a goal back for Thanda.

The fans were treated to an exciting match with lots of goalmouth action throughout but in the end AmaZulu deserved the win as they looked the stronger of the two as the match progressed, running their opponents ragged.

In the fourth minute AmaZulu scored when Mkhwanazi intercepted a pass to score with a shot from close-range.

Bernard Parker nearly got the equaliser in the 9th minute when his shot hit the post.

Belux Bukasa Kasonga came close to increasing his sides lead in the 15th minute when his volley thundered against the post before going out.

In the 33rd minute AmaZulu scored again with a Mkhwanazi header after he was supplied by John Moshoeu.

Thanda pulled a goal back in the 79th minute when Katlego Loke crossed the ball for Botha to score with a volley.

The win lifts AmaZulu mid-table on 26 points while Thanda remain near the bottom on 20 points.

Congratulation Barker and Faya. You need to win against Cosmos at all cost again on Sunday.

For the sake of KZN and Mzansi football, please don't fire Clive Barker after losing three games in a row.

Nasho bafowethu ngezwa ngivukwa wusinga. I like the intelligent comment that you make Saddam. I wish many people could see it your way. That is how I got to support uSuthu since I was five years old. I knew in my mind that I was a Zulu and when my uncles gave me the names of teams to choose from,I chose AmaZulu and I've remained loyal to them since then and at High School they would even call me iNzule but I didn't care coz I knew that this team represents what I am, the proud Zulu. So what Saddam is saying is true. I was hoping Platinum Stars would be name Royal Bafokeng but it never happened coz we are not proud of what we are but we always want our teams to be called with English names. It doesn't matter to people if you say you support Young Stars, a team they don't even know but once you say AmaZulu, they start looking at you like you are a barbarian or something, coz the team has a vernacular name. Back to the games, I do belive that we shall beat Cosmos coz we have a home advantage. As for Clive bafowethu, he has seen better days and yes they must keep him for the remainder of the season but next year we need fresh mind. Barker can be kept somewhere within the team's strustures but not as a head coach.

Luckybs has been a good writer about AmaZulu and he has a gud sense of humour and understanding of the innercircles of the team. For the reason that Barker be kept until the end of the season will stick in the minds of the officials and they willpretend as if they do not know any record about him until the new season starts. All the wins are not the coaching of Barker but of someone within the players who is respected and revered by Barker himself. When a team fights relegation as a norm it does not forget the roots of its norms. At presence AmaZulu have come to that time of fighting relegation wehich is something inherent in them even the time does not deserve it. Even an unlicensed coach now can save AmaZulu because of those few players who respect the boss who is amongst themselves. I pray that this team survives the turmoils and see what lessons have these officials learnt from these hard and trying two seasons. If the third seaSON WILL BE LIKE THE TWO PAST ONES i WILL WASH MY HANDS LIKE PONTIUS PILATO and say never ever will they learn.
