Black Leopards’ relegation woes continued when they went down 3-1 to Moroka Swallows in an Absa Premiership encounter in Giyani on Wednesday afternoon.
The league's strugglers had taken an early lead through Mulondo Sikhwivhilu, but goals from Bevan Fransman, James Chamanga and Evans Gwekwerere handed the Birds all three points.
Leopards took the lead in the 12th minute when Sikhwivhilu latched onto Peter Mponda’s pass and scored from close range.
The striker was unlucky not to claim a second goal just four minutes later, with his right footed shot hitting the crossbar.
Chamanga forced Mashudu Mamphitha into a good save in the 42nd minute, with the keeper tipping the Zambian’s shot around his post.
But the subsequent corner kick taken by Cecil Oerson found the head of Fransman at the far post, and the defender put his effort beyond the reach of the goalkeeper to make it 1-1 at half time.
Leopards had numerous chances in the second half, but their shooting was consistently off the mark and the Birds made them pay with a second goal in the 69th minute.
Oerson set up Chamanga with a pass from the right and the striker continued his rich vein of scoring form by turning the ball into the back of the net for his 13th league goal of the season.
Substitute Evans Gwekwerere added a third in the 79th minute, turning home the ball at the second attempt after Mamphitha had saved his initial effort.
At this rate, Leopards are sure to be plying their trade in the National First Division next season.
