Swallows trounce Leopards

Posted: 5 March 2008 Time: 18:05

Black Leopards’ relegation woes continued when they went down 3-1 to Moroka Swallows in an Absa Premiership encounter in Giyani on Wednesday afternoon.

The league's strugglers had taken an early lead through Mulondo Sikhwivhilu, but goals from Bevan Fransman, James Chamanga and Evans Gwekwerere handed the Birds all three points.

Leopards took the lead in the 12th minute when Sikhwivhilu latched onto Peter Mponda’s pass and scored from close range.

The striker was unlucky not to claim a second goal just four minutes later, with his right footed shot hitting the crossbar.

Chamanga forced Mashudu Mamphitha into a good save in the 42nd minute, with the keeper tipping the Zambian’s shot around his post.

But the subsequent corner kick taken by Cecil Oerson found the head of Fransman at the far post, and the defender put his effort beyond the reach of the goalkeeper to make it 1-1 at half time.

Leopards had numerous chances in the second half, but their shooting was consistently off the mark and the Birds made them pay with a second goal in the 69th minute.

Oerson set up Chamanga with a pass from the right and the striker continued his rich vein of scoring form by turning the ball into the back of the net for his 13th league goal of the season.

Substitute Evans Gwekwerere added a third in the 79th minute, turning home the ball at the second attempt after Mamphitha had saved his initial effort.

At this rate, Leopards are sure to be plying their trade in the National First Division next season.

Who ever is playing Swallows must watchout.

Interesting to notice that all of the last three games Swallows was trailing 1 goal behind and recovered in the second half... and coaches were fired on the past two games. I wonder what'll happen to coache.

It really is dark days for Leopards, isn't it? Who was coaching? Was it chief, or his father, or anyone with that Thidiela name? Quiete honestly I would love for BL to be relegated to the lower ranks and never come back until the Thidiela family realise that they know nothing about football or decent business. It is really sickening to have such a team in the paid ranks. In a nutshell, BL is such a shame. By: Rudzani Rasta Musekwa, Stellenbosch university.

Guys, we've all seen what Black Leopards is capable of - that is to hire and fire coaches at will. Are Nissan and MTN still part of their sponsorship. If so, both respected brands should at least be channeled to progressive teams like Ajax CT and cut ties with Leopards. So I'll ask everyone who is totally against Leopards' anarchy to gather around and make sure they are relegated and never to come back again to the PSL. If this was Orlando Pirates, at least their supporters would have boycotted the reamining games as a sign of defiance. So maLeopards amahle, stop attending the games and give the honours to the Thidielas and their petrol attendants to go to Thohoyandou stadium, that is if they are indeed interested in being bored. Just pity the players. Boebie Solomons, let's celebrate my brother.

Good for the team and Chamanga but the team must win all their remaining games and we are still going to put pressure on Gorowa not to relax. At least we might end up in position 3or 4
