Sundowns and Cosmos draw

Posted: 26 November 2007 Time: 19:02

Mamelodi Sundowns and Jomo Cosmos drew 2-2 in an Absa Premier League match played at Loftus on Monday afternoon.

The Sundowns goals were scored by Benson Mhlongo and Peter Ndlovu, while Anthony Laffor and Lethola Mofokeng were on target for Cosmos.

Three of the goals were scored in the last ten minutes with both sides throwing everything into attack.

The match was even in the possession stakes with both sides having lots of shots at goal, keeping Avril Phali and Calvin Marlin busy.

In the 25th minute Sundowns took the lead when Mhlongo received the ball 10-yards out and appeared to miss-kick, but the ball managed to roll over the goalline to give his side the lead.

Cosmos got the equaliser in the 81st minute when Laffor scored with a right-footed shot in the top corner from just inside the big box.

And five minutes later Cosmos took the lead when Mofokeng scored with a left-footed shot that flew into the top corner from 18-yards out.

In the 89th minute Sundowns equalised when Ndlovu scored with a shot from inside the box after receiving a pass from Manqoba Ngwenya.

In the end a draw was probably a fair result as there was very little to choose between the two sides.

nldovu once again proved his capabilities. I think a draw at this stage is not a crissis hence we are facing the Telkom final against chiefs. It's a good thing tha finally Gordon gave Shakes a chance to play, I hope he'll do that again on Saturday. That would be a good start for Sundowns build ups to retain the league.
keep it up Boys.

A draw against Cosmos is not a bad result at all, especially when you consider that they(Cosmos) are a team that always rises to the occasion when playing against the 'big' teams and they are at the bottom of the log standings so they are trying everything to move away from that dangerous zone, good thing they failed to do it at the expense of Sundowns. good showing boys, keep it up, we demand a win on you next league encounter. All the best for the Telkom Knockout.

Sundowns will win on Saturday provided Gordon plays Shakes Ngwenya, Chabangu and Ndlovu upfront. Apataki and Carelse should be rested together with Oom Manzi.
