Tycoons too good for Leopards

Posted: 20 February 2008 Time: 21:32

Platinum Stars have moved away from the relegation zone with a comfortable 2-0 Absa Premiership victory over Black Leopards at Olympia Park on Wednesday night.

But while the Tycoons can breath a little easier, Leopards are now well and truly entrenched as the bottom side in the top flight and will have a battle on their hands to avoid the drop this season.

The goals were scored by Phumudzo Manenzhe midway through the first half and a late strike from Tshepo Ramokala.

Stars took the lead on 27 minutes when Joseph Mkalipa’s cross was met by the head of Manenzhe to score just his second goal of the season for the Tycoons.

It was just reward for the home side, who looked by far the most attacking of the two sides, and it was a lead they comfortably took into the break.

And with Leopards rarely threatening after the break as well, Stars sealed the win in the 90th minute when he netted from the left of the penalty area to seal the win.
