Arrows breeze past Stars

Golden Arrows got their second round of the Absa Premiership off to a flying start with a 2-0 win over Platinum Stars at the Olympia Park Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Abia Nale and Joel Zothwane scored for Abafana Bes’thende, who hit their stride from start of the game, with Zothwane firing just wide from long range in the fourth minute.

Billy Ratsoana then hit the post in the 16th minute with a long range effort as the visitors piled on the pressure.

Arrows deservedly went ahead five minutes before the break when Nale hit the back of the net with a low shot after latching onto a free-kick by Thokozani Mshengu.

The score remained 1-0 at the interval, and Manqoba Mngqithi’s charges continued in the same vein in the second half and doubled their lead in the 54th minute when Zothwane scored after receiving a good pass by Nkosinathi Sithole following a corner by Joseph Musonda.

Although Platinum Stars showed more impetus after falling further behind, they struggled to break down the solid Arrows defence, with their best chance falling to substitute Washington Tsotetsi in the 83rd minute, but the midfielder sent his header straight at Maseko.

With that went the final chance of the game, and the result leaving Platinum Stars in 13th spot in the Premiership, while Arrows move up to fifth spot with 23 points for 24 hours at least, with six fixtures scheduled to take place on Wednesday.

G/Arrowrs is a very good team, i like their style of play (One twos), They r one of the best performers in the PSL, i wish they could get Multi billionaire to sponsor them. Except Ajax, S/Sport & Celtic, Arrows is the only team that can beat or chalenge the Big three. Good luck Arrows.

u south africans are begining to live in your own world.Anyways i wouldnt blame u,when you are not competitive outside SA,d best is to create ur own happiness.Otherwise ,all d talk of funny stars,or name dropping from ur league,is so so annoying.i would rate ur league among d weakest in Africa,so much talk about teko modise, moon etc. They couldnt perform at d nations cup.And d guys from d angolan league which is not so heralded in africa, where doing good..or have u forgotten manucho or amba.u guys dont have talent, and d english syndrome has caught up with u..much hype and no quality.u should have ur own SADC champions league.u dont have d quality to play with the rest of africa.imagine d winning mentality that comes with sundowns playing against teams in botswana, lesotho ,mozambique, malawi.no,no,angola is with us.crazy shit heads.
