Platinum Stars came from behind to register a 2-1 win over Benoni Premier United in a Castle Premiership fixture in Mafikeng on Sunday afternoon.

Zamuxolo Ngalo and Simba Marumo scored for Platinum Stars, while Dingaan Metsi netted for the Rabbits.

The hosts started well, but it was the visitors who scored first when Metsi latched onto a long ball before lobbing an onrushing Wayne Sandilands in the 19th minute.

Metsi almost doubled the Rabbits’ lead three minutes later, but his sot was superbly saved by Sandilands.

Platinum Stars drew level on the stroke of half-time when Ngalo scored with stunning free-kick after Simba Marumo was fouled just outside the area.

The score was 1-1 at the break.

Stars were again the better side in the second half and took the lead in the 77th minute when Marumo scored with a low shot after latching onto a good cross by Edward Williams.

Although the visitors pushed more men forward, they were unable to penetrate the Stars defence, with the result leaving Benoni Premier United still without a win this season.
