Ajax Cape Town continued their good run with a 1-0 win over 10-man Jomo Cosmos in a Castle Premiership fixture at Newlands Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The result was the Urban Warriors’ third successive win following their opening day defeat to Bloemfontein Celtic last month.
Eduardo Ferreira scored for Ajax, while Morgan Gould received his marching orders in five minutes before the break.
The game was a boring affair with neither side really troubling their other’s goal. The match was also littered with fouls and as result, six minutes was added before the first half came to a close.
Gould was red-carded in the 40th minute when he received his second yellow card of the game.
Ajax showed more purpose in the second half and deservedly went ahead in the 61st minute when Ferreira headed home from a Franklyn Cale corner.
The Ezenkosi struggled with the pace of the Urban Warriors and defended with all their players getting behind the ball in a bid to restrict the hosts from extending their lead and hoping to catch their opponents on the counter, which never materialized.
