Absa Premiership match report Black Leopards v Highlands Park 24 February 2019
Posted: 24 February 2019
Black Leopards were held to a goalless draw by Highlands Park in an Absa Premiership clash on Sunday.
Leopards made five changes in King Ndlovu, Tshwarelo Bereng, Khuliso Mudau, Pentjie Zulu and Lefa Hlongwane as they pushed for a return to winning ways.
As early as the first minute, Ndlovu pulled off a stunning save to deny Highlands an early lead from Mothobi Mvala’s long-range shot
The visiting side continued pushing as Peter Shalulile latched onto a through ball to force a point-blank save from Ndlovu afterwards.
Lidoda Duvha weren’t about to be overawed, as Marks Munyai’s inside run to the box nearly paid dividends, but Marlon Heugh managed to get down for the save later on.
Heading to halftime, Leopards were denied by the woodwork following a right-footed curler from Hlongwane.
After a quiet start to the second half, Lidoda Duvha’s task worsened as Mudau received his marching orders for a second bookable offence at the midway stage.
Opportunities came for both later on, with Leopards going close through Mwape Musonda’s header which sailed over Heugh's crossbar. Shalulile followed up seconds later, but the Namibian failed to finish off a close-range finish at the back post.
Both sides continued to battle for it out in the final minutes as the temperatures in the unbearable heat subsided, but neither of the two found the instinctive cushion as the points were shared.
