Orlando Pirates returned to winning ways in style with a big victory over AmaZulu at Orlando Stadium to grab second spot on the Absa Premiership table.
The Soweto giants made three changes from their defeat against SuperSport United, with Marshall Munetsi, Kudakwashe Mahachi and Luvuyo Memela handed starts.
Usuthu absorbed the pressure in the early stages and went ahead in the 17th minute as Michael Morton sent Jabulani Ncobeni through on goal and the midfielder made no mistake from 12-yards out.
Pirates levelled matters four minutes later after Vincent Pule found Mahachi free at the back post and the Zimbabwean netted into a gaping net.
Ntuli almost restored the lead for the visitors seven minutes before the break after missing a cross from Chawapiwa at close range, while Memela marked his comeback with a goal three minutes later to put Pirates in the lead.
Justin Shonga grabbed a third goal for Milutin Sredojevic’s charges on the stroke of halftime from almost a similar attacking move as the last one, as Thembinkosi Lorch cut open the AmaZulu defence with a diagonal pass inside the box that was finished off by the Zambian at the far post.
Pirates looked like scoring whenever they went forward after the break and Lorch nearly produced a sensational moment after getting past his marker with a cheeky lob but his volley unfortunately hit the side-netting.
Sredojevic made his first change two minutes later as Memela made way for Augustine Mulenga, while two minutes later he brought on Asavela Mbekile in place of Pule.
Six minutes before the full-time whistle, Ben Motshwari extended Pirates' lead with a lovely diagonal half-volley into the far corner that left Siyabonga Mbatha with no chance.
As result, Pirates ended their six-match winless run in all competitions and overtook Mamelodi Sundowns in second spot, with the Brazilians dropping points at Bidvest Wits.
