Absa Premiership match report Maritzburg United v Chippa United 27 November 2018

Posted: 27 November 2018 Time: 17:40

Struggling Maritzburg United and Chippa United played to a goalless draw in the Absa Premiership on Tuesday night.

Maritzburg started strongly, as a free-kick from Deolin Mekoa from the left side caused some danger, but Daniel Akpeyi was able to gather safely in the end.

A pass from Justice Figareido to Mekoa allowed him to charge through the middle before shooting wide of goal.

Chippa’s first shot on goal came after 24 minutes when Ruzaigh Gamildien hit a volley from outside the box, but Richard Ofori held on strong.

In light of opening it up, both sides struggled to conjure up a few telling moments with no penetrative or clear openings in front of goal.

In the second half, the tough-tackling nature of both sides continued to limit the amount of scoring chances.

United on the other hand continued plugging away and were close to breaking through but Mohau Mokate’s shot after being put through by Siphesihle Ndlovu was blocked away.

The Team of Choice continued asking questions and after linking up with Andrea Fileccia, Fortune Makaringe shot straight at Akpeyi to round off the match.

The result does little for both sides in regards to improving their positioning on the log, as their current standing stays as is.
