Absa Premiership match report Highlands Park v Chippa United 06 October 2018

Posted: 6 October 2018 Time: 19:01

Highlands Park registered a 2-1 victory over Chippa United in the Absa Premiership.

Peter Shalulile found Lindokuhle Mbatha inside the box, but the latter couldn’t beat Daniel Akpeyi in the opening seven minutes.

The highly-rated Mothobi Mvala made no mistake to hand the home side the lead after creeping inside the box on nine minutes after an error by Akpeyi.

Chippa battled to get back immediately but lacked the necessary killer instinct to penetrate the opposing defence.

Chippa kept coming and it took a call from the assistant referee to rule Kurt Lentjies for offside after being nicely played through by Daine Klate.

In the second half, the home side preserved to maintain their slender lead while Chippa planned a come back.

The Chilli Boys tried to get back in but lacked a creative nous with the figures in this role namely Mark Mayambela and Lentjies none existence.

Highlands made their first change after Denzil Haoseb came on for Moeketsi Sekola on 60 minutes. Chippa responded with the entry of Thabo Rakhale for Mayambela.

The Lions of the North increased their lead when Mbatha met a delivery from out wide to head into an empty net.

Puleng Tlolane managed to get one back for Chippa with a decent finish to set up a nervy few final minutes.

But it was of little importance nor motivation for the hosts to try and contemplate a come back as the league’s new boys ended victors.
