Absa Premiership match report Chippa United v Free State Stars 03 October 2018

Posted: 3 October 2018 Time: 17:22

Chippa United secured their second win of the season with a 1-0 win over Free State Stars in the Absa Premiership.

Chippa were targeting their second win of the season under the tutelage of Eric Tinkler in order to move off the basement tier.

As for Ea Lla Koto, their campaign have been through drips and drabs even after managing to win their last encounter at home to Highlands Park.

In the opening 30 minutes, there happened to very little chances on either side with a congested midfield battle sussing out any potential openings.

Towards halftime, Stars came up strongly and managed to create a few half chances but none of them were taken by Harris Tchilimbou among others.

The second half got underway with neither side having made any changes from the substitutes bench.

Tinkler’s men continued to plug away despite the pace of the visitors. The inventiveness of Mark Mayambela and Lerato Manzini appeared on a few occasions but provided nothing meaningful.

On 57 minutes, Chippa made their first change of the game after Andile Mbenyane was called out for Thabo Rakhale.

The change did little to impact the game, with Stars holding firm in defence and giving nothing away of any sorts.

The breakthrough rang on the 68th minute when Ruzaigh Gamildien found the opener with a good finish.

Tinkler made his second change, as Rhulani Manzini came on for Kurt Lentjies on 71 minutes, with Stars chasing shadows.

The final change for them happened a few minutes later, as Gamildien made way for Thamsanqa Sangweni.

The victory moves the Chilli Boys into 10th place, while Stars campaign to move from one end to the other.
